HWT on D1 Sheepskin?

What would the effect of a little hot water treatment on a new D1 jacket / sheepskin be? Should it shrink the sleeves? Possibly change the the texture of the inside wool? Can you put Pecards on the outer skin? Just picked up a brand new jacket and don't want to screw it up!

Holy cow mate, I don't know how everyone here is able to do that stuff to new jackets! Very ballsy...you are braver than I.

Then get the thing professionally altered! I'm sure the HWT will change the character of the fleece but there's so much going on when dealing with a sheepskin jacket that I'd never try it! It's one thing to get wet unavoidably but another to purposefully dunk a jacket.

Didn't member 'Stand By' take a swim in a icy stream recently while wearing a sheepskin jacket?. I think he reported that the jacket developed some character after it dried..

So I sprayed some water (not soaking wet) on it and the results were positive. It helped the exposed fleece areas (cuffs, waist, collar) lay down / curl of some and look much better than the brand new wool. Now the question remaining is do I put some Pecards on it to protect/waterproof?

My 13 year old Eastman Roughwear B-6 went through the washing machine a while back as it was dirty (cold cycle, wool washing liquid, no spin)
It's fine. Some shrinkage : 1/2" chest, 1/4" arms and shoulders. Some knotting of fleece. Slight colour bleed into off-white canvas pockets.

Might take my new D1 out for a walk in an April shower but I'll keep it away from washing machines & try and avoid the 'Stand By' Treatment.

HWT not for me either- I do clean my leather jackets with alittle Ivory soap and water, but that's as wet as they get unless I get caught out in the rain.
