It's not a MG - it's a Miata

I think it's actually something pretty close but not identical to an MG-T* body- longer/wider, on a custom chassis with a Mazda MX5/Miata engine/gearbox and running gear.
This guy's been making custom/kitcars for a long time, he's near where I used to live in Auckland, NZ. He has made some nice ones. The T Car design is about 25 yrs old- the Miata drive-line is a newer generation option with the custom built chasis. I think the Jag version is nicer-

Many cost items remain unclear to me: taxes, shipping, the cost of having it assembled, the cost of the underlying Miata or Miata parts. Also, I do not know whether these price quotes are New Zealand or United States dollars. (The New Zealand dollar now is approximately $0.70 US.).

In response to Mycroft's question, the Miata came into production in about 1989. Before then, I understand this outfit used some other car as the underlyiing vehicle.
