Evening all, so today i picked up my second panama. My original panama a Christys superfine has started to change colour and the roof has caved in so to speak, not that i mind that. It kind of gives the hat a slight plantation hat look. I liked the style so that i've ironed my new Olney in a similar style. I think it has been left in its box to long as it was a devil of a job to shape.
The straw does seem a little softer on the Olney compared to the Christys and the height seems slighter shorter too which I like. Any way attached is my two hats for comparison. (the lighting is not great as it was a night photo) Both are folders, this seems to be the traditional style favoured by us Brits, no idea why? A bit like our other eccentric traditions of not fastening the last button on a waistcoat or brown & town.
