And the next. Battersby Special Quality homburg in black. Size 57, with the brim at 6,5cm and the crown 11cm at the pinch. Just a wonderful homburg and I wish I would fit me. Sold in Sweden.

And the next. It's getting better. Sometimes you come across a hatbrand you've never seen before but it still ticks all the boxes. Here's one of those. I'm even unsure about the brand. Burghausen styled by City Club. German made (I think) in a great colour colour combination. Size 57 (damn) with the brim at 6cm and the crown 11cm at the pinch. Nice hand to the felt and it shapes easily. That's all I can say about it really.

Panizza longhair in grey. Size 57 with the overwelt brim at 5cm and the crown 11cm at the pinch. Super soft hand and shapes with no effort at all. A bit too large for me, but a petting hat for sure. This one is dated 1965.

Something else. Meister Filz Record in grey. Size 57, with the bound brim at 6,5cm and crown at 10,5cm at the pinch. I've had one of these before in brown, which is now residing in Copenhagen. Lovley hat, but too large for me. This comes as close to an American styled hat as any European hat. Full straight crown and fairly wide brim.

Penney's Marathon in grey. Size 7, with the bound brim at 6,5cm and crown 11cm at the pinch. I didn't have a Penney's marathon yet and this does have some stains, but a very nice addition to the collection nonetheless. And gills! Thanks go out to Mike, who found this one for me.

Another Knox now. Know Twenty backbow in grey. Size 7 with the custom edge brim at 6cm and crown at 10,5cm at the pinch. Great proportions and the great quality I've come to expect from Knox. The fairly shallow flange is great. I'm a bit on the fence about the backbow though. I have a few of these and don't seem to wear them much. I'm considering a change of ribbon.

Marke Förster in grey. Size 55, unlined with the raw edge brim at 6cm and crown 9,5cm at the pinch. This one contains a fair amount of wool in the mix, but I liked the colour and shape of it though, so why not? The bow need a little bit adjustment, but that's a minor flaw.

Before we get to the Maysers first this one.
Another unknown brand (to me anyway). Percy Jones&Co ltd homburg in grey. Size 57, but this one fits me quite well. Brim at 6,5cm and crown 11cm at the pinch. The lovely grey colour of this one won me over. Percy Jones is most likely not the maker, but one of the hatfactories in Stockport or Denton nearby. based on the label shape and the sweatband I'd say it's probably by Moores. Colour is called "Coke".

Mayser fedora in black. Size 61, with the overwelt brim at 7,5cm and crown 11cm at the pinch. Echter Mayser. I don't find many hats in bigger sizes, but this is one and an Echter Mayser with a larger brim to boot. It had to come.

Next Mayser on the list.
Echter Mayser in blue (jay!). Size 56 with the bound brim at 6cm and the crown at 10cm at the pinch. The link between Hut Seidl and Mayser was very close. Anton Seidl was a partner first and the owner of the Mayser company later. Interesting is that the label on this one states Seidl and not Mayser. So the hat was probably made especially for Hut Seidl's shop in Munich.

Almost there. Only the Borsalinos to go. First one:
Borsalino fedora in black, qualitá speciale. It also says Export Qualität on the sweatband, so made for the German market. Size 57 with the bound brim at 5,5cm and crown at 11cm at the pinch. I wasn't going to keep this one (just like the borsalino homburg in black I posted recently), but this hat has so many redeeming qualities it will stay. I don't have a lot of black borsalino hats to be honest. And these cellophane covered liners always have my resolve turn into dissolve...

Yes, I think you could wear this one well. It was a very reasonably priced hat in the classifieds by someone I have trade hats with over the years. It is marked "western style" on the sweatband - sold by a shop in Florence. I think the hat is 1960s vintage.

Also included with the white Borso were two hats originally from Steve's Czech cache. I have the same gray Kami special a size larger but I seem to be getting smaller.

I was very happy to come home today to find this Gledhill's waiting for me.

I bought it from our own @Bill Hughes, who was a pleasure to work with.

The hat is perfect for my physical makeup - A nice straight tall-enough crown, a moderate, for me, 2 1/4" brim, and a nice wide 2" ribbon. The front pinch is 4" high, which is right in my wheelhouse.

The hat has a c-crown, but I'll attempt to reshape it into a diamond just because I prefer them. A diamond will not increase the taper of the sides, as a center dent would (I already tried it).

As it happens, I bought another hat from Bill today before finding this one when I got home. Details to follow when I receive it.
