Haha, that sounds like great fun! I'm sure you and Ms. Tina can come up with great ensembles. Post plenty of pictures next week...many of us live vicariously through your travels.
Definitely, Robert. Looking forward to seeing you sporting them both.
Gentlemen, you flatter me, thank you both very much. I don't want to hijack this thread, but you might like to see our escapades at The Hat Festival back at the beginning of this month. Right now I'm busy righting a letter. That's a real letter, snail mail and all that, but keep a watch on the Fedoras Afield thread and let this thread get back to, new hats.

A very fine hat, indeed!

"SHES FINALLY HOME!"
Introducing 1940's Mallory "The Mallory Ten" 7 1/8 Premier Quality, You are So Correct about the Dating of this Fedora @TheOldFashioned , The Quality of this Felt is Soft, Very Moldable For a Dry Hand Crease, The Snap of the Brim is Very Flemsy only because of age but I know how to fix that, there is some Loosening of the Sweatband that can also be fixed aswell, But Once I Looked on the Inside of the Sweatband is where I found something very Astonishing about the age of this hat, on the Inside there is a $10 Dollor Sticker attached to the inside of the Sweat band, Also there is a Union sticker and then There is a another Sticker that's Halfway Hidden and it States the Size 7 1/8 and what's Covered is what I'm assuming is the Serial number to this hat which is Stuck to the Liner and Also some Form of Paper that's Holding the Liner in, Now I've rarely Seen a Liner Held in by this type of paper, Anyone who knows history about this Type of Technique used to hold Liners in Please put your 2 Cents in and inform us Loungers, This was and Awesome Find and For Such a Cheap Price I got it for ..... I Think I'm taking to the Grave with me LOL,hope you all enjoy, Yours Truly-"PinchFrontKid"

I've got the exact same tape holding the liner into a good quality Champ. I assumed that meant that the Champ was a late model but your Mallory is from the 40s so my assumption might not be accurate.

Thanks for posting, I really like my Champ and dislike thinking of it as "a late model"!
My assumption is that tape like this is usually used to reinstall a liner after a cleaning. Though I could be wrong.

My new Hufvud arrived yesterday evening. This is my first true custom, and my first experience with felt that contains a notable amount of beaver. Mikael's work is astounding. The felt is light, soft and flexible, but holds its shape like nobody's business.

I love the blue tones in the emerald gray felt, and Mikael's bash really suits me, so I'm leaving it alone. My head measures 57.5 cm, so this is the first hat that fits me perfectly. I'm smitten.

Astoundingly great hat!

How many inches is the brim and crown?

This is an interesting little hat. “Hampton Hall” sold by Gimbels. 2-1/4” raw edge brim, 5” open crown, 1-3/8” ribbon. 21” circumference. Only 69 grams. It is very soft and malleable — almost too easily shaped (by wind, a careless look, etc.). The felt is more blue than the photos show. Not sure of the age, buts it’s been a long time since Gimbels sold a $2.00 hat.

Moth approved!

Sure is a very inviting interior! I usually go only for a white/cream colored liner, but that blue is gorgeous. I hope the sweatband has lots more years left, definitely a beauty.

Well, at least the liner is nice and bright!

A new to me Penn Craft (Stetson) bowler. This is my third Penn Craft (not that I'm counting!) and has the same silky smooth finish, and same solid construction, as my other two. This one is a size up from my norm, but some hats are so good, it's worth a few felt shims to get a good fit! All the components are in excellent condition and it is, for all practical purposes, NOS. I'm glad Fall is not far away! This one has a date stamp on the sweatband, so that is something special about this one as well.
