Love that hat. :eusa_clap :eusa_clap
Stetson seems to have made the style continuously into the modern period. Still looking for one in my size, which unfortunately matches Douglas:(

That one is very interesting, scott. Where'd you find it?

I was just playing around on the internet, looking for examples of those fedoras that the Civil War vets used to wear. They are all over the internet, but it's tough to find 'real' ones with Stetson sweatbands that actually date them to the early 20th century. This one has a sweat stamp that I haven't seen posted on the forum yet (the combination of this stamp and 'Standard Quality'), so thought someone might have thoughts about it. My guess would be late '30s, early '40s.

The one I posted on the Stratoliner thread is more interesting, simply because if authentic, it would mean the veteran didn't have his hat made until he was close to 100 :)

While Stetson sombreros are rare, I stayed away from that one because it looked like someone had sewn a Stetson hatband into a non-Stetson hat. Could be wrong though.
I suspect you are correct and the beautiful embroidery is likely a home-made project. Did Stetson even make the ultra-wide brim Sombrero style?
