setting hair with rags

when I was a little girl,my mother set my hair In rags,I am a hairdresser,however beauty school never showed us,how to set the hair In rags. I think this Is a lost art, I would like to learn step by step .Rosie,posted how to wrap a perm In rags,for a perm,I have looked for this post,but can,t find It so please tell me ,what to use,how to wrap,I can,t understand the 6 inch 1 inch wrag strip, to make a pin curl,and Rosie stated a rag, could be used to roll a perm. thank you
