VBO question

How do you know when it's VBO-time on e-bay (in advance)? How often are they, and how long do they last? Please enlighten me!

Just incase any of you ladies were interested in how the Bettie Page "Dorothy" dress I bought last week looks on I posted a pic of me in mine just now over on the What are you wearing today thread.

Bella - I remember you asked how the quality was, and I've got to say that it's super- super comfortable and I would say that the colour of the dress is more accurate in my shots than on the promotional photos.

Enough showing off for now I think.....;)

You look fab in it - I was worried the belt might look shiny. It's a bit short for my taste however, I'd like it a couple inches longer....not at the knee. Are you tall?

I LOVE those white shoes, they're so cute!
How come I can never find any Victory pins?? I've looked and looked but nowhere to be found! [huh]

It's not actually a pin- it's a clothing button! Which makes it doubly great IMO. :) I already have a sundress planned for it!

Try searching for "v victory" , "v morse code" , "victory button" , "...-" or "victory homefront"

Those are my favorite searches.

I love those shoes- they had better fit! They were a bargain, and they look so well taken care of!

What do y'all think? These are for running errands such.
I get downright dangerous when I see a petite Swirl I want.

VBO is four times a year currently and goes for a week I believe.
I was hoping Specialist Auctions was going to have a similar thing like they did last time but I don't see it.

Thanks for the reply. How do you know when it's VBO time in advance? At least one of the ladies here knew when it would start. Are there dates listed somewhere?

I was thinking the exact same thing - I saw it mentioned on here but didn't know what VBO was! :eusa_doh: I want dates!

Is this exclusively on eBay.com, as I haven't seen it on the co.uk site?

I have found that some (ie about half) vbo sellers jack up their shipping costs to make up for the $19.99 selling cost. Kind of a bummer. I am well aware it does not cost $24 to ship a cotton day dress to Canada

It's not just with the VBO sellers - I was cahrged $24 to send a sewing pattern to the UK! Most other sellers only charge around $2!! - Naughty sellers!

Thanks Bella, no I'm not very tall around 5' 5", it's just below the knee on me. I think it looks a bit shorter than it is because I have that leg slightly forward. Rest assured there is nothing shiny about it..... that's something that I'm not keen on either. If you are still thinking about buying one and need any other info ie: bodice length etc, etc just let me know and I can PM you any details. :)

I know!
I wanted a velvet cloche they had on there, it was $19, but shipping was $6!
$6 for a foldable fabric hat, not in this lifetime pal!

Also seems most stuff this go round is 60s 70s and 80s :(

being that priority shipping is $4.85 (for up to a pound) these days, that's not THAT unreasonable, considering some people add a buck to cover fees/other expenses...

AllaboutEve - I think it'll be worn most of Summer, I just need some new outfits to go with it... :D

I'm finding that international postage is a much better deal than posting within the UK, only a pound (£) or two more usually... I'm confused

:eek:fftopic: Ladies, does anyone know of a way to get an item overseas? I'll explain: I want to bid on a bag (purse) but the seller will only post within the US. Do we have some knid of agreement on here to take items for each other, then they get posted out for the postage cost?
I'd be more than willing to take in items for non-UK ladies, and post on ASAP for the actual postage cost if this helps?

If you say so, but I just shipped something to Estonia for less that $5.

if it's the hat i think it is, she is shipping it priority, which means the post office is going to charge her $4.85. $1.15 added to that doesn't seem completely unreasonable to me, but to each her own. [huh]

Foofoogal. I love that Gingham dress. The pockets are adorable.
Aurora that Necklace is so wonderful.
VB. What an amazing deal on that fabric. My paper doll collection as well as most of my collections started with my love of classic movies. It's amazing how many obssesions can stem from one obbsession.

I love the green buckle and buttons on this.

This suit may look awful on me but for 7 bucks it was worth a shot.

I actually think this would be cheap. The $1.15 is probably for insurance. An additional .75 for delivery confirmation which can be waived if using clicknship tough.

I often think about putting clothing in the mailing bags but think the priority boxes are just better.

But it's oh-so-pretty! Not my era, but not only a very nice piece, it looks like a great conversation starter.
