As promised there will be a lot of posting in this thread to show you how my wardrobe has - I hope - evolved in the last few months so that now includes more actual vintage.
Some may work, some may not, don't be afraid to be harsh, I am still in a testing the water period.
The first in the series is a 30s jacket in a lovely caramel colour that I believe looks better in real life. Good nick, some buttons missing, but I adore it.

"La femme designed by Lacher" velvet jacket from ebay - anyone knows anything about this label? More pics in dressing for Xmas thread, for obvious reasons. :)

I couldn't resist something as unpractical as an evening cape, in velvet, and in a color that doesn't particularly suit me...[huh]
I am wearing it here with a vintage slip that just arrived - sorry about the creases!

love it all but that cape is to die for! i had a gorgeous velvet opera coat in my teens - wore it in the rain one day, ruined it for life. what a frivolous child I was!

I think you need a program for Velvet-a-holics. lol

Good Golly! Best keep that purse away from me. I'd ruin the suede with all my drool!!!!

As for the cape...I'm gonna dream about that tonight!

You selected some really wonderful items and I think they suit you very nicely. Good going!

thank you ladies! you are all most kind!

I think you need a program for Velvet-a-holics

Yes that's true Inky! besides velvet I obsess with lace and crochet, with wool and suede close behind! :)

And you're lucky that you live on the other side of the globe, or I might have to kill you for the multicolored suede handbag.

Interesting you saying that, Miss 1929, since all of these things came from US! I make postal services happy, what can I say...

I am glad you ladies like the blue stuff, I find it a bit more difficult to wear (finally came to accept it is not my colour, but only after spending lots of money lol )- that is why I wear the short dress with red accessories :D ;
the cape is so beautiful i expect nobody looks at me anymore...:D

1960's Wicker Handbag and Baronet Fifth Avenue Wallet.

I know they're a little out of the timeline of this forum, but they were just so darn cute I had to share them (and if we can talk about Mad Men Style for pages on end, certainly we can share our Mad Men era accessories?)

I found this on Etsy, from hipandvintage. It's in great condition, and exactly the size and color I wanted. The inner label says "Baronet Fifth Avenue".

These were inside-- the faux money and identification card/photo holder that came with it originally.

I also bought this handbag on Etsy from thecherrychic. It was without a liner and had some broken pieces of a frame that had been partially removed on the inside. It fell in love with it when I found it (it was like the perfect cross between Sophia Petrillo and Summer Finn and was confident in my ability to replace the liner (and the price was right).

I thought the hardware, while tarnished, was beautiful

And here's the finished product. I used some fabric I had bought to make a purse inspired by this bag.I had pieced enough of it to line both internal sides, so I just used the remainder to make the pockets, bottom, and gussets. I'm pleased, pleased, pleased as punch!

I think the the wicker is a good neutral and versatile enough to be carried with my entire wardrobe, stretching from 40's inspired to 50's to 60's and beyond. I love it. And I really love the liner I Improvised. It's like opening a little box of spring everytime I open my purse!

Does it count as a purchase if it was FREE???
I know you'll appreciate my new sewing machine! I did an estate clearance for one of my mom's clients, and this was my big perk (well, this plus a new 20s dining room rug plus a Victor Edison talking machine...):
