Stetson was pushing velours between 1912 and 1919. This ad struck me with its reference to a low crown and straight brim.

Taupe long hair Borso

My newly acquired Borsalino (probably late 1960's). 6 7/8 size, 1 7/8" raw edged brim, 4 3/4" crown (creased).

Beautiful soft felt finish with marvelous irridescent sheen.

Dunn & Co, 60cm, brown English Velour, 1970ies? hat.

Very nice felt!

That is a great velour. The felt does look fantastic. Stetson + Trachten influence?

The felt and look of this Borsalino is superior! I can't get enough of it.

Both of your Cavanagh long hairs are fantastic. I especially like the felt / ribbon color combo on the brown one.

Hairy Borsalino

I'll add my hairy Borsalino with the tweed band:

This one could handle the shedding of a German Shepherd and not change its appearance!

I'm guessing this is early '40s, late '30s? It has a huge Union tag - an inch or more square. That 'Hamberger' store tag is actually stapled on (you can see staples in last pic).

Very, very nice. :eusa_clap
I think that's about as new/old stock as it gets. It's interesting that the bow is frayed at the front. Aren't they normally frayed at the rear?

It must be a trick of the light - it's not frayed on either end. I just posted this in the classifieds for trade - while Lexol'ing near the stitching, I busted some threads with my fingers, so I'm thinking stretching would not be a good idea.

This was my first really cool long-hair...Rats.
