In the late 1930s and early 1940s, the zipper company, Talon, Inc., marketed a line of coats. They were defined by zipper fronts (of course), along with a patented method of zipper attachment, where the zipper was attached to two separate pieces of fabric behind the opening of the coat. Despite being advertised together by Talon, jackets and coats under the surcoat name were made by a variety of makers, including Monarch and Albert Richard.

1939 - If a zipper can replace the buttons on pants or on a jacket, why can't you replace all buttons on a suit with Talon zippers? The logic made sense, but it never caught on.
