Vintage jacket with no labels?

I picked up a vintage sportcoat but was surprised to find that inside there are no labels of any kind. No company label sewn into the lining, no union or size tag, no tag indicating the source of the material, nothing whatsoever. All that I can find is a stamp in an obscure portion of the lining with what is apparently the original owner's initials.

Was this a common practice? Does this mean the coat was custom-made?

Labels

It was a common practice (maybe still is) in Savile Row for tailors to not
sew anything but the customer's name or initials (if anything) on bespoke
garments.

Some establishments put labels inside the left or right inside
breast pockets where they couldn't be seen. These labels
sometimes included the date the garment was made.
