Thanks Red. It is a pretty nice derby. I noticed the snow melting on it after I came in this morning

Seems to be somewhat water repellent. Unfortunately, they already have the next snow in our forecast and I believe it is in April.

And me after a little over an hour and a half of shoveling

it started up snowing fairly heavily again while I was shoveling. I hope my fur cap doesn't mind a good soaking. Maybe I should give it a style while it's damp?

This was not the icy cold, light and powdery stuff I have been shoveling all winter. This was the heavy, sticky, probably moved 3 tons of water today stuff.

Michael
Young man, i’m thinkin you need to sell a couple hats and buy a snow blower! Well...maybe for next year!
I love my Cardiologist....he said NO SNOW THROW!!

This will help you to look forward to summer. At least to look protected from the elements.
I'll take shoveling snow in the cold over mowing lawn at 90 degrees every day of the week.

I used the snow shoveling to fill out my exercise minutes for the week. I have a minimum goal of 180 minutes of exercise a week. Haven't been hitting it too regularly this winter, but this week with early week biking and end of week snow shoveling I hit 280 minutes. So I'm happy about it. And I think it will make me a good boy tonight and early to bed.

Thanks all,
Michael

Super looking VS Charlie, getting those straws out for next week?

Nice color Bob.

I could move you into the Hat Room in the back of the house. PhD in history, "do you want fries with that?"

It does look like a giant Chianti bottle. No, this is art. Guess it just is over my head.

Sometimes you just gotta let a Hommie be a Hommie. Looks good anyway you pet it.

The weave on this one is so light and airy. Great air conditioning when temps hit the century mark soon. How old is it, you, being in your early 40s and all.

Nice lines and cool band Richard.

I do love the color and finish of this Borsalino Stefan. Very classic.

Thanks Mike. I'll start packing my hats.

Gave the borsalino misto topo a spin today.

Great looking hat, Stefan.

After straying away from the flock it's back in the fold again as a homburg. Feels like coming home...Great hat either way, Matt.

Thanks Stefan.

A tad of snow coming down this morning. A Willner's Special derby is entertaining me

I was debating doing some shoveling, but I may leave this stuff to melt on it's own. It sticks to the shovel like it's mixed with super glue. Would make a hellacious snowman though. Maybe I'll just roll the path clean with some big snowballs.

Or maybe I'll challenge the weather and take a walking tour of downtown.

Have a fine weekend,
Michael

That is a "special" hat. Fantastic, old derby! And it handles the elements like a hat should.

Hey all!
Going with the Stetson 3XBQ c. 1950 on a chilly grey afternoon.

Under duress, I have agreed, in the name of authenticity, to look like a lemon. We are off out to this Peaky Blinders inspired dinner/dance. She looks amazing, I'll get a few photos of her, and our friends, and put the best ones up either here, or maybe in The Peaky Blinders Thread. That thread is far less populated, less to see me looking a complete lemon.

Thanks Matt. I'll take one of each of the styles in each of the colors mentioned in that ad. Should run to around $29.60. I might be able to swing that even if I have to run over to Des Moines to pick them up.

I really like the regularized homburg look today. I've been finding myself liking my few homburgs in the simple center dent with no side dents mode.

I wish I could say "I feel your pain..." but we just don't get this kind of snow here in the valley. If we get 1"-2" the whole region is paralyzed. I lived in Anchorage AK during my USAF days, so I guess, I feel your pain Michael.

In 1939 Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. In 2018, Huggy Bear Goes to Virginia Beach.

Earlier this week, I expressed how groovy I thought Mike's Cavanagh lord's hat, Huggy Bear, is. I really never imagined that I would dig a hat with a feather band. But I could not dispell the thought it would be a sweet wear along with a certain jacket that I have.

Mike and I later PM'd about perhaps doing a future trade. We didn't settle on anything and I just catalogued the task of looking for some suitable hat to send to Mike in exchange.

Well, last evening I was surprised to find an unexpected package by my front door.

I never really expected to wear the jacket to Mass. But, convention be damned. Huggy Bear demands that it happen this Palm Sunday.

We live in a time when self-centered cruelty, narcissism and indifference to others often seems to rule our culture. Mike, it seems to me that your everyday kindness tips the scales a bit back towards the way things ought to (and can) be.

Thanks, my friend.

Have a kind day, all.
