For weeks, I've been dropping into a local antique store, eyeing, among other things, a Resistol Quicksilver. I could never quite pull the trigger, and I guess the proprietress got sick of seeing either the hat, or me, or both. A week ago Friday we were discussing hats in general, and she dropped the price, twice, in 60 seconds. I finally couldn't say no, and took it home. It was hatband-less when I bought it, and I think the horsehair I had on hand fits its character perfectly. Today was its first outing on my head. View attachment 591924 View attachment 591925

Tina had a hospital appointment this morning, her heart rhythm is out of sync. It's not life threatening but still a concern. I am on chauffeur duty and moral support.

"What are you wearing?" She asked. That means what hat and jacket. "The striped blazer and hat that you bought for me," I replied. "Good," she said, adding that she hadn't intended to dress up but she wasn't going to let me upstage her. We garnered many a silly grin and lots of compliments at the hospital.

In case you are curious, she will be having an Ablation, a procedure to treat atrial fibrillation. It uses small burns or freezes to cause some scarring on the inside of the heart to help break up the electrical signals that cause irregular heartbeats. This can help the heart maintain a normal heart rhythm.

Great look, Robert. Best of luck to Tina (and yourself of course) with the procedure.

I hope the procedure goes well, Robert, and Tina is back in fighting form soon.

I'm sure, btw, your outfits lifted spirits at the hospital.

My Stetson Temple, today. Back when I was working in a suit and tie, this was one of my favorite fedoras. The dimensions are a shade smaller than the current offering, which ties in with my memory of this being about 20 years old. Once I retired, this one got relegated to essentially funeral duty only. I realized that fact this weekend, and determined to see that he got out on happier occasions as well.
