What I got...and what I have-Knox 20

Well the first of the two Knox 20's I found on the bay arrived...

YIKES!!





After a round of cleaning and steaming...

I did find a few moth munches, but nothing so dramatic that the hat is a bust. If anyone is interested, I'll get pictures of the liner and headband up shortly.



And of course the noggin shots...

I suspect I'll be sending this one off for cleaning and work!

Great job of cleaning and steaming! What did you do to clean it? Just some serious brushing or a solvent bath?

I used only an orange hat sponge (dry, but might try damp), the steam from my iron, and a little shaping on the brim. I am a bit afraid to do a naptha bath myself.
