These is a great site that has pictures of stores in the 1930s. By clicking on the various windows of the stores you can see the detail of the window displays! A great peek into what people saw for sale when out for a stroll along the avenue.

My husband, son and I wear dressed vintage 1940s yesterday, our event we dressed for ended up being next Sunday (my mistake). So since we were all dressed up and needed something to do, first we went to walk around in the nearby municipal Rose Garden (built as a WPA project in 1938-1939). After that we drove to get an ice cream cone and walked along the main street area just doing some window shopping. Stopped into a local vintage clothing store and perused the racks for a while.
