Wrong buttons?

Doesn't it look like "Johnnie" Johnson has brassbuttons in his BD jacket?
Was that regulations at any time of WWII - or a little fashionthing for the few?

Although uniforms aren't my focus of interest, I believe it depends on when a particular BD was issued Spitty.

You see many, many squadron photos where BD buttons will differ from person to person.

With all the KingsCrown brass buttons I got, perhaps I should concider to change to "show-off" buttons in my BD jacket too. lol lol
