Yet another hat dating question.

For all the kind hat experts out there. I have an old John B.Stetson Derby which I think was made sometime between 1900 and 1920. My rough guesstimate based on the time frame when the derby was popular, and the gold seal which indicates that Stetson won the grand prize in Paris in the year 1900. I have seen later dates for these awards stamped in hat sweatbands before, so I assume they were updated from time to time. Anyway, as that is not exactly enough info to date the hat, I was however fortunate enough to find the price tag still in place under the sweatband which places the regular retail price at the enormous sum of $3.50! The tag is the standard little white stick on type that was ubiquitous in retail for ages.
Based on this price and info, can anyone hazard a good guess as to the actual age of my derby?
