Just wanted to give everyone a friendly "hello" in my first post, now on to more important things... drinks.

Drinks that are good for any day of the week Maker's Mark Manhattan straight up, Sidecar, or Presbyterian.

For these hot summer months though I prefer Zombies. If you want to go for some fun with a hint of childhood memories a Slurpee mixed with any alcohol you feel right for the flavor of the Slurpee hits the spot.
Ah yes, misspent youth! Frozen Mountain Dew with lots of rum!:D

I'm in NYC for a couple of days with family. I went out to dinner and had a Jack Rose. It was pretty good and might be a new favorite.

Sounds interesting. Where did you have it and what's in it.

Miss N; I tried the Chelsea Sidecar (White Lady). When I ordered the second one (!), the bartender suggested a splash of limoncello in it. Wow is all I can say. The new drink of summer '07.

Woody,

We were at Cru - it's near Washington Square Park.

The drink calls for applejack, grenadine and lime. I'm not sure of the exact recipe though.

I've never come across one bartender that knew how to make a Jack Rose. They rarely have Calvados in stock anyway. They're a great drink in autumn.

I've heard of that lime substitute, but originally it was lemon.

4 parts Calvados
1 part lemon
1/2 part grenadine

That was my mistake. It was lemon. I don't remember the name of the Calvados but I know it is on the website on the same doc as the white wines.

Your Signature Cocktail

My tastes vary alot.... as far as a signature cocktail, it would have to be a Vodka Martini, of course shaken not stirred. I went out for Mexican last night and had a very tasty concoction..... a " Pomegranate Margarita". I'm mainly a Vodka and Tequila Man and occasionally rum concoctions -(I do like Myers Rum and Coke.")

It's my fave cocktail and I got it from an old book of coctail recipies from the 50's.

All you need is...

One shot of gin
One shot of Creme de menth
and the juice of 1/2 a lemon.

Shake it with ice in your cocktail shaker and....

Voila!

A Starboard Light!:D (it really does glow green!)
I just tried it and it is quite the nice drink for a Sunday afternoon. :D

it goes like this :

- 1 oz Light Rum
- 1 oz Pineapple Juice
- 1/2 sp Maraschino Liqueur
- 1/2 tsp Grenadine
- Garnish: Cherry
- Glassware: Cocktail Glass

Shake all the ingredients in a shaker with ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with cherry.

I like a good Long Island Iced Tea. :D

1 part vodka
1 part tequila
1 part rum
1 part gin
1 part triple sec
1 1/2 parts sweet and sour mix
1 splash Coca-Cola®

Mix ingredients together over ice in a glass. Pour into a shaker and give one brisk shake. Pour back into the glass and make sure there is a touch of fizz at the top. Garnish with lemon.

Second runner up would be Lynchburg Lemonade.. ;)

1 part Jack Daniel's® Tennessee whiskey
1 part sweet and sour mix
1 part triple sec
4 parts Sprite® soda

Add ice and stir. Garnish with lemon slices and cherries.

Will do:

Rock and Rye Cocktail

1 oz Rock and Rye® liqueur
1 oz white port
1 1/2 tsp dry vermouth

Stir all ingredients with ice, strain into a cocktail glass, and serve.
