That makes felts simple by comparison. Styles were developed over a 100 years ago and most were continuously made. The sweatbands are more varied and different than the felts. Some makes the size tag style may help. Very old ones(pre WW2) have some of the same sweatband dating clues. Certain stingy brims were mostly produced later 50's through the 60's. Particular ribbon or Puggaree(pleated fabric bands) may resemble ties or fabric styles of a particular time(if original). Most don't have liners. Most hat bodies were not produced by the main hat companies themselves. Is there a thread for dating straws?
John Lofgren Monkey Boots Shinki Horsebuttt - $1,136 The classic monkey boot silhouette in an incredibly rich Shinki russet horse leather.
Grant Stone Diesel Boot Dark Olive Chromexcel - $395 Goodyear welted, Horween Chromexcel, classic good looks.
Schott 568 Vandals Jacket - $1,250 The classic Perfecto motorcycle jacket, in a very special limited-edition Schott double rider style. Wow, thanks fellas for the quick replies. I checked under the sweat of the Borso, and found nothing. I do believe the liner is glued in though. It also has a cloth (white with blue numbering) size tag and black leather sweat. I`m glad to find out the triple stiching of the Champ represents the high quality of the era. Its the only hat I own that has that kind of stiching, so I was a bit taken back by it. Thanks again fellas...
You have some interesting looking musical equipment too. Blues, Rock?
If you need help dating a couple of hats, I suggest putting an ad on Craigslist or Match.com and if you're lucky you'll get some replies from some old hats and can set up some dates, lol
I know, corny joke!
