Let's be nice here and not get locked down. In retrospect, I THINK I see PoohBang's point. But we all have to be aware that typing anonymously on a keyboard on a forum where we don't "know" each other leaves WAY too much room for interpretation of posts. Most of the time, we go in the wrong direction, as we witnessed here. It's often hard not to get emotional, so I'll commit to being better before clicking "submit reply" That's my pledge :)

I had to go back a few pages but I clearly get your point and agree. It was a rather good example if you ask me.
[huh]Just don't know why this was insulting? But don't explain it to me for 10 more pages. :eusa_doh:
Today I am wearing a "good" haircut and a "bad" sweater. lol
with a good haircut I think that's all that matters on here, so you should be fine.

I had to explain it for all the others on here because for some reason they have difficulty in grasping a photographic example.

But I have the feeling I could have put a picture of a cute kitten drinking cream and they'd still yell and complain... it's what they do.

Taking a defensive attitude and pitting yourself as the lone voice of reason against the bigoted masses is un-nessary and completely wrong.
There is a more diverse group of opinions here than you give credit for.

There were some nasty people with good haircuts in history.
As much as I love vintage clothing and style- I don't think it matters when it comes to character or intelligence.

A few pages back (too many) LizzieMaine mentioned other Forums who look down at the Fedora Lounge and make fun of some of us. Like posting pictures and write: "Look at that idiots."
Let's try better than them.

(but it's ok to listen to to Wesley Willis "Cut the mullet" on repeat if you need to)

Didn't read that when I was writing my post. Perhaps you are right.

Hmmmm...But patting on each others back all the time won't make a better forum too?

BTW: I love kittens too! But what about the general decline in grammar caused by lol-cats?

Well..since you evidentially consider yourself among the intellectual elite...and,of course,we surely are not...then any reaction we could offer would never measure up unless it aligns in matching sequence with your pompous 'opinion'....it's what you do.

Wow. Thought we'd reboot here, but I see you're intent on proving you are what others said. No more with you. Sadly, you showed your colors today, and now I leave this thread and any more nonsense you post. Find some place with people that think like you do rather than trying to stir the pot. You're just not interesting or intelligent enough to care about.

Am I the only one that when walking down a grocery store isle, and I need to pass in front of someone that's looking at a shelf, say "excuse me"?
I feel like an antiquated troll when I do this, and am pleasantly surprised when the rare occasion someone says it to me :)

The thread is fine, it's a certain participant that needs to find a new home. I'd say Huff Post might better suit him.

How many ways can we say the sky is falling, though? It's very obvious a lot of folks feel the world is going to hell in a hand cart, while others don't feel it's so bad compared to the downsides of living in the Thirties or whenever. It's been going round in ever-decreasing circles since the third page or so. [huh]

Yeah, honestly, I think it's people needing an outlet to feel some comfort (my professional psychiatric eval :))
Tough times, and listening to the news makes you want to go out and get some Xanax. I think it's fair to say thought that if you're a tad or a lot old-fashioned in the way you were brought-up or think, it is tougher to fit in. It's so about "Me" and decorum has gone out the window. On top of that, the economy and instability of the world has many fearful - looking for someone's ear to bend, even if it's a virtual ear.

Then there is Power's law of the internet. Resist the compulsive urge to comment on something or complain about something being discussed and move on to something that you like. It makes for less threads cluttered with "victims of sight.":p

It's all a question of perspective, really. Some people are focused on where people are sitting on the bus, while others are trying to point out that the bus is going over a cliff.

My personal view is that too often the "yes, but look how awful things were in the Era, it's so much better now" argument is used as an excuse not to see the very real problems of the modern era. As many comments in this thread have made clear, we haven't come anywhere near as far as we like to believe we have.

Yeah, pretty much. It's been fun though.

I was just explaining why I had to explain it all in the first place because someone asked.

Hoosier already made it crystal clear his view about me and so did Butte. I know we'll never be friends. But we don't have to be enemies.

Even after being defamed without proof, with only a "Call the Cops" as a reply. I left it alone.

I believe the biggest problem with the decline in Standards today, is people not being happy about themselves or their lives.

Once you get past the anger and hatred and just accept that this is how it is at the moment. (that's how they got through the first depression)
Look at the positive things going on in your lives.

Make goals of stuff you want improve if you want. But be happy and positive about now and the future.
It makes for a better and more rewarding life, not just for you, but for everyone.

I fully agree with that statement.

And really for anyone else, I think, it perhaps brings in a form of bringing things to view by discussions, more or less some common hope that may bond good people together and just perhaps, by actions, make some positive change by example.
