I remember that old thread...great initial impetus but ran out of steam, it seems, due to the relative scarcity of surviving specimens. I think there have been quite a few more examples of the old Standard Quality unearthed since 2009 to warrant consideration of a reprisal of that thread.

Beautiful Borsalinos Javier and Rodkins. I finally broke down and ordered an Alessandria in the taupe color from Bencraft yesterday. Hopefully I'll get it before Christmas.

Of course I'm sure both of yours are vintage. I've been checking the 'Bay daily for one in my size, but something tells me that will take a long, long time.

Javier-- that's a great trio of hats there-- it could be a catalog photo for a line of three distinct styles. Your black stingy (how wide is that brim?) of course being the top of the line.

Last night, in a new-ish casino, bootlegging post performance. Me in my Royal grey Stetson, my friend and colleague in his Akubra Federation. This is the guy who really got me going with hats. He has a handful of Akubras, and I don't think he'll wear anything else!

Looks nice, what are the specs that were modified? I modified my Fed for an even 2.5" brim all around and it turned out very nice.
