Gentlemen, let me present the high count Montecristi with 13 ligne black ribbon:

Rabbit; Applause! :eusa_clap :eusa_clap

Your hat is certainly a dream hat. Oh, la, la! The weave makes it appear like fabric. The hat weaver really spent quality time at the crown and feeding subsequent fibers into the making of the hat. The evenness of the weave and the general texture give it a special rich look.

Both you and Art did a nice job complimenting the countless hours of handcraftsmanship of weaving with a special block and ribbon.

Impressive dream panama sir. You really will have to post up some pics of you wearing this special panama.

Wear your special hat with pride. Eric -

Indeed! Three pages after posting the hat, I finally have a picture of me wearing it:

ArtLite in Sahara, 2-1/8" underwelted brim.

Lokking very dapper sir! The hat dimensions are you. Thanks for the pic - I better see the felt, under welt and how it wears.

Looking sharp and of course no sweat beading on your forehead. ;) Eric -

I am still getting used to how light the hat is! I am not sure if I would have wanted a larger brim - with some breeze it can flutter a bit like a high-count panama. It feels that light!
And definitely way cooler than the other felts as well as my every-day Stetson palm-fiber "panama".

Thanks for the nice words, Gents!
Here are some side-by-side shots of this amazing Panama together with the 800wpsi VS and a 1150wpsi vintage Monti which, judging from the sweatband, is from the 1930s or 40s at the latest. All three have very even weaves.
Thank you Art for the great work on the blocking and trimming! The brim doesn't waver one bit, amazing!

Just happen to have the hat in at work (yes, I did take it off to sleep!)

Is that what you wanted to see? I tried to get a photo at an angle, but the auto-focus didn't like the angled surface.

Dnjan, I just put in an order with Art for one of those. Although mine will come with a 5 1/2" crown and a 2 3/8" brim. Everything else will be identical to yours---all the way down to the underwelt edge!

The 5" crown is after the center-dent was in - I didn't think of measuring it first. So I an guessing that my open crown would be about the same as yours.
and I like the way Art does the underwelt. Almost looks like a guild-edge at first.

dnjan, I envy your mustache. :eusa_clap
thanks!
It is because of the moustache and beard that I tend to go very conservative with hats (and attire in general). Art has been wonderfully accomodating with his ability to do the "understated statement".

I missed this earlier post - darn it.

GQ; That hat's dimensions really are working for you in the pic you posted. Congrats on the light colored felt. Marveous contrast with ribbon and felt - it gives the hat a sharp, dressed look. If you get an opportunity would you post up a pic of the hat in a bit more of a profile so as to showcase the ribbon and dimensions of the hat. I like what I see so far.

Congrats, Eric -

Here you go Eric, this thread has really been moving fast lately!
