He must be waaaaayyyy older than me. My father remembered when it was that low when he graduated from high school---in 1948.

I remember when gas was 77 cents a gallon.....:eusa_doh:

Don't know if I'm older than you or just in a cheaper part of the country, but I remember it at .55 cents a gallon when I was first old enough to notice. I believe it was still just shy of a dollar a gallon when I started driving.

It was 1.87 a gallon when I started driving. That was only in 2006 lol

I remember the day they came to replace the mechanical price computers on our gas pumps because the existing units wouldn't go above 99.9 cents per gallon. Until they got around to us, we had to set the pumps to display the price per *half* gallon, and you had to pay twice the "total" amount shown.

When I started doing the books for the station in high school, the price per gallon was around 60 cents. It passed the dollar mark here in the summer of 1979, and the panic was on.

This week, I'm excited fuel dropped to 3.39 a gallon.

Those of us who earn our living in the oil business thank you for your enthusiasm.
