I'm in the market for a Gillette Slim adjustable DE razor in very good to excellent condition. I know there's a plethora of them on eBay, so I thought I'd try and give my money to a fellow Lounger before going that route. I'm not particular on the date code, and I couldn't care less if it has a case--I intend on using it. Let me know if you have one you'd like to sell. Thanks.

I actually collect razors and I have a few fatboys. I'll check to see if I have a spare slim hanging around.

Thanks Doomstein. I'd go with a Fatboy too, but the prices they fetch have kept me away. Let me know what you find. Also, I've edited my original post to include very good to excellent condition. I just want something presentable and useable.

Presentable? So you're going to make me clean out all the 60 year old shaving scum and scabs? That's where the collector value is, man : )

J/K hehe

I dug out my razor case and I'll shoot you some pics of what I have tonight.

So long as the finish underneath the grime is good, I don't mind a little polishing and disinfecting.:p

Much appreciated. I've sent you a pm.

Well, your inbox is full, so I'll just post it here, no biggie.

What I have available that's actually working properly (adjuster functioning at 100%) is a 1960 Gillette Fatboy. I had an extra slim SOMEWHERE, but it's not with the rest of the collection, so who knows. Anyhoo, here's the pics of the Fatboy.

I was thinking $30 shipped is a fair price.

Inbox is cleared. After discussing the above Fatboy with Doomstein (thanks again), I'm still looking for a Slim in very good to excellent condition.

I only use a safety razor now when I travel, otherwise I use straight razors exclusively. I can however recommend a fatboy if you want a safety razor and this is a very fair price.

I too usually use a straight razor. Doomstein's Fatboy, while I agree is a fair price and a good razor, has some brassing. I'm looking for something in very good to excellent condition.

I was thinking more along the lines of someone else looking for a user and or travel razor. If you are not sure about using a straight razor for example, a good safety razor is a good first step. Just don't dial up the fatboy too hard or you might be short a little skin.

Hehe, yeah I found that out when I used my first Gillette. "Durr, my beard is getting a little long, better dial this thing to 9!"

This is my current collection, minus one or two I've managed to somehow misplace.

I was really into collecting Super-Speeds for a while, as you can see.

And here are the adjustables.

Very nice collection. Difficult to locate a double edge safety razor these days. I've scoured the local antique shops and flea markets to no avail.

You know what's funny? They tend to come in bursts. Nothing for months and then I would see them in every antique store in my region. The dealers are crafty though, they know that if there's an adjustable DE they can easily get $20 out of me because there's two other razor collectors in my city who I have to compete against, and I'll buy them out of pure spite.

There's also a guy in my town who's as berserk about hats as I am, but we're waaaay different when it comes to hat sizes, so we get along just fine.
