I had a bit of time to modify my new Broner straw last night. To me, it now looks and wears better.

As received:

After steam was applied to give it more of a snap brim appearance:

Stetson Royal Deluxe with Sharks-Gill Bow

Just picked up this light grey Royal Deluxe a few days ago. Had to spruce it up a bit with a good steaming. A small stain on the bottom of the brim and that's about the only thing wrong and that should come out. It has a 2 3/4" brim with a 1/4" underwelt edge but looks like a Mode Edge from the top. 5" crown as shown with a crease and a 2" black grosgrain ribbon with a sharks-gill bow. This one really holds a pinch and a crease well.

Purplesage - Nice hat. Love the ribbon.

Just bought this on Mother's Day (I know, I know but I got her something, too) at a vintage clothing shop. The felt is nice and thick and I love the wide brim binding.

A rare appearance here on this thread, I found what I hoped was a fit from the past, but alas... only a 7-1/2 C & K Derby. The outside, although fairly dusty, is in excellent condition, with only a temporary bit of brim contortion from the packing. The sweatband was padded up with an Examiner newspaper from 1939. A great find, even if it is too small. My age estimate for this one is about 1930. Close?

7-1/2, and still too tiny...

hato - Thanks! The hat is gray with a little bit of brown in it. The ribbon is also taupe-like and darker. The brim binding is gray with a bit of blue and lighter. A funky combination.

purplesage - The brim binding is 3/4 inches.

hatsRme - Too bad it doesn't fit. Love the liner. What size is that noggin of yours again? 8?

I know I haven't been posting much recently - with only a few hats, there's a limit to how often one can post almost the same picture in "What hat are you wearing today" ;)

Well, since last week, I've increased my collection. I had to take a trip to London to renew my passports, and make sure I had enough time to have a look at some hat shop (See also Fedoras Afield). I finally settled on a Bates Beaver Roll Up. Yes, I know I paid a lot of money (probably, no, definitely more than a custom) for it, but I just couldn't resist
