Are we allowed to post about current ebay sales on the Lounge? Can't see anywhere where it says we aren't but please delete this if it's aginst the rules please mods.

A brand new pair of Lennon 78N boots have appeared on ebay today. The seller (no connection) says he will only sell to the UK as they are big and heavy so anyoneover the pond may want to contact him. They are UK size 9 which it think is a US 10. Posted at £45 today with nine days to run.

I'm only telling you all as I'm a size 11...:(

Used to be against the rules unless it was your own (in which case you vould post it in the classifieds), but I think they relaxed that rule a while back. The 'finds and deals' area is the place to post.

I wish those were a UK size 8, I'd be all over them at that price!

Not quite sure how I managed to post the message here to be honest! Thought I was posting it in the forum where everyone talks about boots, Lennons included! How do I move it anyone?

I'm sure this is the right place to post if they aren't your boots - if they were yours then classifieds would be the place and as I understand it ebay links are allowed in both areas. If I'm wrong someone will say so immediately.

"Here" being finds and deals? I think the mods have moved it - when I replied originally, you had it in the Outerwear section. This is the right place for it.

I was outbid on this pair as I wasn't sure they'd fit so wasn't prepared to bid too high. I then decided I was going to have a pair of their WW1 boots for my birthday (June) but as I'm a wide size 8 I didnt want to spend serious money without being sure of fit and so thought it best to drive over to the William Lennon factory at Stoney Middleton - luckily only about 20 mins drive away from Sheffield where I live. I rang first to ask if that was ok and they were very friendly and welcoming. I was well looked after by Dan - shown the actual WW1 pair used as a pattern plus all the other styles available - questions answered etc. and was able to leave with a pair of size 9's in the WW1 style - as they had a pair in stock so no need to wait. They are the best pair of 'work' boots I've ever owned, robust, stylish and comfortable.

Excellent, that's good to hear! I have my eye on some Lennon boots when the budget allows. I'm very fond indeed of my RedWings, but the Lennons look to be equally good, and significantly cheaper.

(thought I'd shift this to this thread)>>> I've just got pair of vintage Lennon Shepherd shoes, made from Horween. They were given as a gift and bought for £45 on the 'Bay- other half thought they'd go well with the Irvin, but didn't know any thing about Lennon's.

They're so sturdy that I could walk up Ben Nevis in them! They'd obviously sat in cupboard for many years - the woman who was selling them had got them in a job lot from an house auction - and had a fair coating of grime, and a decent polish and application of Red Wings cream and they came up good as new.

That thing that covers the laces, is it detachable? And how do the shoes look underneath it? Like a normal derby shoe?

I'm no Shepard, nor do I know any, but I'd guess it helps keep the mud and the poop out of the laces. It doesn't look thick enough to be covering any steel, like a sheetrock hangers shoe has, which would sure help if one of the wooly ****ers stepped on your foot

@Rudie The bellows tongue is sewn in. Underneath, it's a normal Derby shoe.
@dh66, the woman who was selling them had originally listed the boots as having steel toe caps because they're so solid. Lennon's phoned her up out of the blue and said 'no, they don't, you'll need to change your listing'!
They've got a rugged style to them that goes well with the right jeans.

Yes, they are nice, and I could see them with the right jeans (as in not all faded and full of holes) and also moleskin or heavy woolen pants.
The color of those is absolutely fantastic. I bet it will only improve with wear.
