Fished out a Canadian police jacket! Looks to me 1930s or 40s. Horsehide.
I love bad listings.

Seems to have a shearling lining, with interior cuffs and an interesting wool
piece behind the neck, which preserved the leather there (usually the first to go).
Yes, that's awesome fabric at the bottom. All buttons appear to be intact.
The button hole need to be re-stitched.

Waiting for the punchline? A nice fit for me, so it's around a US size 50 jacket.
These are some photos from the listing.

Anyone else own a Score brand jacket? I seem to recall Dinerman posting one.
I'd like to know more about the company.

Nice vintage find! Especially in a large size.
Wasn't Score one of the leather jacket brands that Steve McQueen favored? A later model though- similar to or made by the Shields of Toronto brand.

Great! I *have* seen a few of those in random Shops downtown Toronto in my time, Never picked one up because I wasnt sure its Value and date.

I think there should be a number of these floating around still, they seem built to last.

Thanks all. Sure is hard to find any information about Score, possibly due to searching on a common word (score).
Mostly I'd just like to see other examples.

Worf, I'm glad to spare you the heartache of a jacket that is too large.

LouisBailie, I love the length. Classic cop coat of the period and long enough to hide that Hawaiian shirt...

DD, let me know if you see another big one...

I'm going to give it a coat of Pecard tonight.
It has some quirky pockets and what appears to be a really heavy, dense, cotton sleeve liner..
I think I'll get the button holes sewn up, since that's the only failed thread, but otherwise leave
it as-is.

Here's some good info on their history, though it's more 1950s onward.
Lorne Shields

Thanks, Dinerman. Interesting link, if only because I am interested in the history of bicycles. But a bit thin on the leather goods.
Do you know of any resources for pictures/history/examples of police leather jackets? Curious to date this one.

BTW, I think I'm going to get the shearling removed and replace it with a new lining in the body of the coat. Applying Pecard did
not remove the must-y smell, so it must be in the shearling. Anyway, I live in California... If anyone has done this and has any
advice, please post.
