Well, it is the entertainment industry after all. It's not insignificant that the release date is in the fall. Just because the film hasn't been released publicly, doesn't mean that nobody has seen it. Certainly part of this is "buzz," but Sony wouldn't necessarily spend the time, energy, and money to do so unless they thought the film would do well.

Stumping for Oscar votes is no new thing. While the movie may be great, this is likely orchestrated publicity to build buzz. Nothing wrong with that - it's common in the industry. I'm just hoping an actor I know is good (Hiddleston) will be given enough to sink his teeth into that the film is entertaining.

I'm just wondering how many members of today's movie-going public have any idea who Hank Williams is. People today are so brain-washed by Madison Ave. they think five years ago is ancient history.

Oh, I think there is still enough interest, especially given the popularity of his offspring and his legendary stature within the country music fan base. There are also still enough of us older folks with disposable income that will see it, too. Full disclosure: I will likely not see it in the theater, as I usually reserve that for the big movies with big 'splosions. I usually just want to settle into my home theater and enjoy a movie after it hits PPV, Netflix, or the like.

/of course, if they put in a car chase...

my life is in the entertainment industry ... the music industry in particular ... it is where I make my living
... and Hank Sr. is still held in extremely high regard by just about everyone I know for his contributions and for being a pioneer who truly blazed the trail for everyone ... and not only in country music.
What he did in those short 29 years in this earth have left an enormous mark on the music and entertainment industry

my mom who was only 11 when he died has been a huge fan for her entire life and made sure that I was familiar with his music at a very young age just the way her mom did for her

he is an an extremely important figure... and any musician who skips over Hanks contribution is leaving a huge void in his ability to imitate , assimilate, to innovate.... which is the only true process to creativity

As someone who has skirted the music industry since I was a teenager, I agee. It's been a while, but I spent the formative years of my misspent youth selling evil rock and roll to the yutes of America, and use to run lights for a local band. That, and I've been mainlining live music since I first saw The Mothers of Invention when I was 13. I'm not a big country fan, but all genres have folks you can't overlook if you appreciate music. Hank is one of those in my mind.

As for the biopic, I think the success of "I Walk The Line" and "Ray" have shown that these stories, if well told, will put fannies in the seats.

Well said, moon. My dad, raised in East Texas, used to walk around the house singing Hank Williams songs. It was the background music of my childhood.

I'm looking forward to this movie.

Very good Moon, Thank you for that
Drummers make great mandolin players, no need for drums they set the beat.
I hope the movie does better than the Geo Hamilton or the newer " The Last Ride'
Though i'm more interested in the hat
Never spent a day working with my father w/o him singing Jamalaya

Oh and very good chord transition

Moontheloon, Awesome! I am a partially tone-deaf* drummer myself, can't carry a tune in a bucket. That was just awesome!

*not quite as tone-deaf as a typical bass player.
