A pop-up ad appeared while I was browsing a news site today, for Jack Erwin Shoes. Being a sucker for shoes, I clicked on the ad. According to their web site (http://www.jackerwin.com/)
the shoes are designed in New York City and manufactured in Spain. My attention was grabbed when I saw the pricing. One hundred and ninety-five dollars a pair!

If these are any good, buying a pair at that price is the next thing to stealing! Has anyone got any experience or knowledge of this brand?

The price is very attractive as much as how nice their shoe line looks. What will be the make or break of those shoes, is what do they weigh? A poorly made shoe is light and has not "heft" as cheapo leather is like cardboard. If those shoes have weight to them, then they may be a super darn good deal. From what they show on their website, a video of the shoe factory in Spain making their shoes, it seems to me they just may be a better road to go then Allen Edmonds, for well made mid range price shoes.

I may tempt fate a bit mid February when we have more "dough" to roll around in, and purchase a pair for Daniel. If they are junky, I can send them back unworn, if they are snazzy and nice and worth keeping, I will sure do a review of them for here.

LOL. I know you won't do that! When you have retail priced Vass in your closet, you can't mingle them with the riff raff. LOL.

Well...true! I don't think we need any paperweights! HA! I have a few new pair of vintage Weyenbergs......NOS and nicer than pie! Plus I have been working on some shoes for Daniel, installing some sole cover protectors, (really nice gummy red flexible material thinner than Topy and far more of a grip for walking) and fixing shoes for my customers! I learned how to do soles on shoes now also! It is a challenge and hard on my fingers and hands but to do spade soles or thicker soles the cobblers machine does not do, so I now do them! I can have our cobbler make a full leather heel, a leather heel with a V Cleat, or half leather rubber (typical vintage) and I have maybe 60 pairs of rubber heel from Goodyear and Biltrite and Cats Paw. I even have some heels that are dark cream made of rubber by Nettleton.

I've debating for months buying a pair of Jack Erwins...they're made in Spain and probably pretty good quality. However, every time I am tempted, I go to Allen Edmonds and buy a pair of clearance shoes for the same price if not cheaper.
