ONE last word on words and how they can vary in meaning... a favorite story from my life.

This occurred my senior year in high school when we were privileged to have an exchange student from jolly old England. Ours was a lovely gal named Dita, who I became friendly with early in the year. I mean, we both spoke English, so how could there be ANY difficulty, right?

At 17 years of age, imagine my delight when she asked me about a scheduled visit to her home later that evening. Her exact words (which I shall NEVER forget) were, "what time do you think you'll knock me up this evening?!"

I explained, as best I could, for her benefit. But I was disappointed at the time.

NOW try to get back to hats...
I had a similar situation in high school when a girl from England in my math class asked if we could share my "rubber"

but I don't think either of these stories relate to a derogatory term used in a derogatory way ... whether he understood the true meaning or not he still used it in a negative way ... he simply didn't know how specific the term actually is because it has been so watered down by pop culture in the past

it's like if I said ... hey this guinnea wop dago said some stupid stuff about my hat ... then was surprised when a bunch of Italian guys from the neighborhood wanted to beat my ass

whoa whoa whoa guys ... I thought it meant scumbag ...

eh ... nah .. doesn't work

Went to lunch with the work crew today, one of the 10,000 Mexican restaurants over by the mall near the AF Base. While cashing out, my waitron complimented the Frunoliner, making me feel all warm and squishy inside. She especially like the purple ribbon. Since I rebuilt this from the ground up, that made my day!

I always get reactions when I'm out but I also wear a suit with a hat so I guess I stand out , but the funny thing is I've
never gotten a negative reaction ,instead I always get kodo's and most of the time its from the ladies :) .

The bottom line here is life is short so do what makes you happy ,as in my case being welled heeled is what does it for
me among other things in life.

"Well heeled" is a term used to describe one who is well armed, as in packing heat, walking heavy, carrying a blaster under your coat, etc... is it also a term to say one is well dressed?

this reminded me of a confrontation I had one time with a guy around my way who was known to be quite dangerous ... we had a little problem and I went to a place he frequented to discuss it so it wasn't hanging over my head

I showed up unannounced and he apparently wasn't very happy about it ... we had a short discussion that did not go as well as I had expected and when on my way out he yelled my name and when I turned around he said ... and I'll never forget these words because I honestly didn't know what he meant until quite some time later but I assumed it was something about being ready for something possibly harmful ... he said ... "... and if you come back here come heavy"

that was the last time I saw him ... he now resides in Northern State Prison on Frontage Road here in Newark NJ and has for over a decade

I don't believe you had a confrontation, Ant...

And my understanding of well-heeled was that it meant well-off, usually money-wise, or wealthy. But I have found that connotations/denotations evolve.

He was telling you if you come back, you'd better be packing.
