Wow. Wouldn't have much use for a western, but this one I would happily add to the collection. What a brim curl!

And today, to get a tire fixed. Barbisio Nutria Homburg (kind of a stingyburg, diminutive dimensions) The liner calls the Nutria "Rat Gondin". They sure get the "rat" part of these animals right.

Still feel like a baby treats a diaper, but surviving.
Barbisio and a nutria. Now I'm all jealous! Like to see more of that one, Mike.

John, thanks. It's a great tip. Gotta try it sometime. I am very interested in the art of luring hats; it's not something I can find much information about, but seems to have been a vital part of hatmaking.
I had to look up the term, hadn't heard it before. I found a general description of the process. Sounds like a technique I tried (wirhout much success) years ago after reading from a book posted online all about hat renovation. It involved coconut oil as well. All I ended up doing then was making a thrift store hat greasy. This info was more detailed, and mentioned special equipment not in the book I saw before. I'd be interested in any progress you make in your research into the matter.
Fortunately, the straw heading your way shouldn't be in need of treatment for a long time!:)

Thank you Eric. Sometimes I worry about being a "compulsive poster" (Bob's comment from a while back), but this is my only outlet for conversation about my passion. My wife tolerates my obsession, and the general public rarely engages. The "Church Ladies" on Sundays regularly asks about hats. I just can't keep my comments to myself when I see a hat in front of me.
The Church ladies may have other motives, Mike!

SVEN HOMBURG by HUFVUD

A fun project to make. Takes time but it turns out pretty vintage. This one is 12 cm high (4 3/4 inch), dimensional cut brim at 6.0 cm (2 3/8 inch) and 5.5 cm (2 3/16 inch).

Camel color Rabbit & Hare mix felt with cobber crown ribbon and camel brim binding. This one was custom made for a vintage collector in Stockholm, Sweden.

That's a nice looking homburg in an unusual colour. Great job. I suppose you got more appreciation for homburgs after you found out how difficult they are to make. Just an observation: the brim curl could be even more pronounced inward facing.

This is a lobbia with a more sharp and less rounded profile compared to other Borsalino of the same type

The proportions are: 6 cm. brim and 10.5 cm. the crown
Contrasting ribbon in black and silver for the brim

I declare today to be Sharksgill Wednesday. With all that entails, including parades, raucous parties, fireworks, and of course, feats of strength.

If there was a Hat Channel on cable, we'd all be looking forward to Sharksgill Week.

Sent directly from my mind to yours.
If I had only known. Love a good sharkgill, Great hat, Jim.
