Vintage Bates Black Highwayman size 40
This jacket has been sitting in proper storage for several years.

Collar and Belt are both present and in very good shape. Talon brass hardware all around with aged patina. It's missing one Talon teardrop pull from the left chest diagonal pocket (slide is there but pull is missing--see pic). All others intact and working. Very heavy leather. Must lift with your legs!! ; )

Not many wear marks on the leather at all. There are signs of faint wear appearing in the right upper sleeve/shoulder area (see pics). Otherwise extremely clean and unworn (albeit pre-owned) condition especially for its age. Appears to be more time aged than wear/usage aged if that makes sense. Smoke Free/Pet Free/Odor Free/Free of Evil Spirits. Please take a look at all pics. More available upon request. Thanks for your interest.

Pit to Pit: 20"
Shoulder to Shoulder: 18.75"
Rear Length: 25.25"
Sleeve Length: 24"

Asking $300 Shipped to Continental U.S.
**International shipping possible--Please inquire for Rates.

I also own a Bates Highwayman. An amazing jacket at an excellent price. Quintessential Bates. More people should seriously consider the brand.

I agree. Its a brand that doesn't command the prestige and notoriety of some others but they made/make some real quality heavy duty gear.

Back when I began collecting jackets these would pull down far more money than a crusty old Buco. Gorgeous jacket and this is THE hide that Bates is famous for.

I haven't handled a Bates cross zip but their cafe racer was seriously the among the finest and definitely most true riding vintage styled jacket I've came across. It is in every possible way a piece of motorcycle equipment, not just a cool leather jacket. And I doubt it the cross zip is far off. Honestly, I think Bates stuff is better than Vanson. More engineered.

Bates makes true ride gear as Vanson does. They aren't a sportswear maker who makes some jackets you could ride in. I don't own any Vansons anymore but this Bates is certainly comparable in weight and quality. Bates is sorta the one of those "RC COLA" brands that doesn't get the Coke and Pepsi mass marketing but is right there in terms of quality. Yes, I used "RC Cola" and "Quality" in the same sentence . Now I have to think of who the Shasta of leather jacket makers would be....................o_O

Hmm - let's see - How about Wilson's, Berman's, Leather Loft, Gap, etc... (I've owned plenty of these as well)...
