Im not usually the thread starting type a guy but since there hasn’t been too much posted on the Aero Moonshiner, I figured Id step outta character for this one.
Quick intro:
The jacket was posted on the Aero sales page on a Friday, I know I don’t need another jacket, heck I just bought 2 used Aeros and a Lost Worlds off eBay this month already so I resisted.... until the following Tuesday..
It’s a size 46 and made from Kudu leather that Aero recently unearthed from their cellars. It looks like a blackish gray with brown undertones.. not quite CXL weight or stiffness but heavier than Vicenza and for sure heavy and stiff enough.
The fit is pretty good through the shoulders and P2P, although the wrists and forearms are tight and make getting the jacket off a bit of a struggle..
Unfortunately this (and the other 3 “new” jackets) get put away while I work on my tan these next few months

Looks nice!

You could always just undo the button cuffs (and just leave them undone) to make it easier to take off.

I really like it Boyo. I think I'm too slim for that kind of cut but the Moonshiner, the 20's Premiere work coat and the Mulligan are about the only Aeros I really like.

Thanks for the review. Very helpful for me and others who are considering this style and there indeed are very few pictures out there... think Aero mostly sells HWM/Sheene/CR style jackets these days.. it's funny.. back when I started looking into them, people were all over their longer coats and buttoned styles..

Jacket fits you perfectly. I like the angle of the pockets, they nicely secure stuff and that back design reminds me very much of a 40s vtg jacket that I love and hope to have re-engineered some day. I like the leather, too. The distressing is nicely done imho, very nicely actually. Reminds me a bit of the RRL Barnstormer I recently picked up. Not too much or too aggressive distressing but jacket has none of that "hey there I'm new and unworn"-sheen and is good to go without having to consider showering in it first (hello @ton312 :D )

It's a great fit, I can see why you didn't resist the purchase. It's good to see one in the wild, as you say Boyo we haven't seen much of this style outside the Aero website photos.

Finally some fit pics of the moonshiner! Been wondering what it looks like on a person since they came out with it. Came close to buying one but there were no fit pics available anywhere. Even asked Thurston for some but nope. Thanks for posting!

Leather jacket with shorts ?

AND I THOUGHT IT WAS ONLY ME HERE IN AUSTRALIA !

Long ago "I was through with being cool" so head out dressed that way in early summer "no worries"..

PS that is a cool Aero for sure ( and I'm usually a zipper guy thru and thru !)

looks really cool, great fit, and that's a hide with Character.

I just had a note from Aero letting me know that the leather on this Moonshiner is Kudu, not cowhide as originally listed. Its still a beautiful jacket and I am still very pleased with it.

Moonshiner has instantly became my favorite jacket on Aero's site even tho I've never seen it in the wild before now. Now I know why. Fantastic looking and fitting jacket! Everything about it is perfect.

I don't detect the the slant of the buttons when I'm wearing the one above, but i think the buttons do have a very slight slant similar to a cross zip jacket
