Oban ? I worked in the Columba hotel on the pier in 1978. Ferries left for the isles then , probably still do

Summer job as a bartender. Plenty of "Jacket weather" all summer haha..

Had my Suzuki GT 250 2 stroke twin then , and a RED leather mandarin collared jacket.

No photos from them days sadly.

PS How were the MIDGIES ? Pure hoachin' wi' them up there !!

I've stayed at the Columbain the past. Nice brown carpets; fond of it. Camping down the coast with my beautiful outdoorsy girlfriend this time. Nae midgies detected

Awesome first photo - looks like you've been superimposed onto a Caspar David Friedrich painting.

MacCaig's Tower, the Victoian folly overlooking the town. We then went to the excellent Oban Distillery for a whisky tour and a couple of fine drams of the 14 year old. Slàinte mhath

Leither, you should be running a National Tourist Office for Scotland (if there is such a thing). Your pics make me want to jump on a plane and visit. These oysters look awesome. And the best mussels I ever had were in Edinburgh. The cold water must make them fat and plump...in curry broth...damn...

The fabulous seafood, the small but inspiring Munro mountains, the beaches, the Scots pine forests, the whisky, the ale, the comedy, the inclusiveness, the festivals, the wildlife, the Mexican and other fine international cuisines, the Literature, the wee Aero temple of fine leatherwear doon the road in Gala, the increasingly independent spirit and political awareness, the wariness of charletons, mountebanks and purveyors of snake oil, the welcoming of immigrants and refugees and those in need.
Sunshine on Leith and the sheer fun and banter of la Belle Ecosse. I love it all...
Glad you enjoyed my adopted city and country...

And you did not even mention golf...to me the best proof that Scotland is truly an egalitarian society is that you can play their best private courses if you write them a nice letter and have a decent handicap. Try that in the US...

The rules of golf were first recorded at Leith Links half a mile from my front door. It's a pretty egalitarian game here except for a few archaic enclaves...

That is so damn cool it’s not even fair. I want one but already know it’ll never happen. That’s the only one of its kind I’ve ever seen.

Thank you! But it can't be they've made only one. It's a weird style, being a mix of CXH and a jean jacket but then again Appex was going all over the places with their designs. But if you see one, don't wait one second. I can't remember when was the last time I was this happy with a jacket purchase.
