Well, in a sense. I picked up a copy of the Post while waiting in the grocery line and eventually reached that page...

The Daily News is usually my choice when I'm in the mood for a New York tabloid paper, but I'll occasionally peek at the Post, in the same way one cranes their neck when driving past a bloody car accident.

I spy with my little eye, someone who couldn't resist click bait. :D

Argh. You got me. I am weak. I clicked and regret it.

The same thing is happening at our stupormarket -- bit by bit the cheap store-brand stuff is being phased out in favor of "upscale" more expensive store-brand stuff. They eliminated my favorite cheap pizza -- one of the few I can safely eat because it had no onion or onion extractives in the sauce -- in favor of a fancy "artisanal" line for a dollar per unit more. And loaded with onions because, you know, foodies love their g-d onions. Plus, the old one was simply wrapped in plastic and a round cardboard disc. The new one comes in a stupid full-sized box. Bah.

This store chain is obviously trying to compete with Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, and similar bourgie chains -- except the nearest such stores are seventy-five miles from here. It's bad enough they gentrify the neighborhoods, gentrifying the grocery store is just rubbing it in. Bah again.

If you've got any of the round pieces of cardboard kicking around, they taste pretty much the same.

By the bye, the "Sexy Mr. Rogers" outfit came up for a well-deserved drubbing today on Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me. I think that's about as much validation as anyone can ask for.

Do your doctor's offices in the US work often with "blank prescriptions", too?

In Germany, it's absolutely illegal, but many doctors prefer the risk over nerving bureaucracy. But my familiy doctor has anyway failed her profession, haha. :D

For the amount of time people spend on their phones they still can't communicate! I mean simple but important things like calling to tell you that they're running late or that there's a change of plans so that you're not left hanging.

Then on a somewhat related note are the people who are constantly running their mouth except when they do need to speak up, then their silence is deafening.

Some words on the actual diggings in the Buchenwald stone quarry:

It's ridiculous!
I was long enough in the "hobby-historian/bunker-scene" to know all these narcists, bumbles and bullshitters very well. Believe me, you can bet your ass, that there's nothing unkown to find!

But the old questions will finally be answered in five weeks. :)

You'd think they could use radar or something to settle the question without actually having to excavate.

They decided to do a "prospecting". Means, they excavate the debris, which came down from the hill over the years, on two indicated places, to get to the old floor/rock face. If there are further adits, they would be seen.
