Very cold (clear!), early mornings in the harbor make for GREAT photos (a fellow captain took this shot of my boat as I piloted her across the harbor). Perfect weather to wear a toasty warm floatation/survival jacket:D

I wholeheartedly recommend the standard leather they use for the 59’er. Thicker than Vicenza but a lot softer. Really easy to wear. Tons and tons of grain and character.
Thanks, my main reason for Vincenza was to chose a different colour and possibly to keep the weight down. I presume the steerhide would be a bit heavier also?.

Nah, I don’t think the Steerhide feels heavier than Vicenza (I have three Vicenza jackets). Thicker and softer, but not heavier.

Yeah, the whole customization thing is a double edged sword. On one hand it’s awesome to be able to spec a jacket exactly how you want it, but it’s really hard not to second guess yourself every step of the way. Even after receiving the jacket, I find that I easily slip into the whole “maybe if I’d choosen differently it would have been even better”. Options = anxiety and doubts.

That’s why I really like buying things off of Aero’s sale page. I find that I’m generally happier with those jackets than I am with my custom orders. And the fact that there’s no wait time at all.

Exactly that. 100% true. That's what made me sell my last Aero CR and objectively speaking, it was the endgame piece for me. But I couldn't stop thinking what it'd be like with a rounded kidney panel... Stupid, bordering with deranged, I know, but at the time it made perfect sense to me.
But if anything, ever since then I am kind of reluctant to go full on custom anymore. I don't think I ever will. The Lee trucker I got off Aero's sale page is the least perfect Aero I have had, and I like it the most. By far. It's too short, maybe a size too large, unlined and yet, I'm perfectly happy with it.

I too learn a bit shortish sleeve from standard size works too after, sometime/ most of the time it is only in the mind of the wearer.

Checked Carhartt and WIP
And I couldnt find it. Perhaps not a US release? Looks Boss.
This arrived yesterday, so I'm wearing it to try it on a little,, as I'm still not really adventuring out of the house too much. But it's too nice a jacket to not keep putting it on.

Carhartt Sheffield. Their version of the N-1 deck jacket; this one in a sort dark navy (almost black) with a borg-type lining instead of the vintage-traditional alpaca (?) wool.

Ribbed storm cuffs. Manly canvas fabric, but not rigid, still soft and draping to a degree. Seems pretty warm, but lightweight and not stifling.

Very pleased!

@ton312 re going shorter on a HWM. Both are Premier HWM from Aero‘s sales pages. Measurements are close to identical but for the cordovan jacket being one full inch shorter in the body.
Now, I do have to say I „feel“ the blue HWM being longer and it does „feel“ roomier as well. By the looks of the pictures, fit looks pretty identical to me (First picture taken ca. ten months ago; jacket ca. 18 months old).

My 2 cents: I love both jackets. The blue one works slightly better with layering. Both have been sales items, and had I specced them, in all likelihood, I would not be much happier, wiser or more „done“ with jackets...
