Bulldozer,
I own two new Good Wear jackets which John made for me and two used ones that I picked up on eBay. I am very fond of them and I hold them in somewhat higher esteem than I do my four Aero jackets. Having said that I would not say that they are head and shoulders above the Aero’s I own and I think it is a waste of time to worry about such things. When I went out for my afternoon walk today I was wearing a Good Wear, when I go walking tomorrow I will probably be wearing an Aero...

That's such a fair and measured observation. Nice.

Oh god, not this again. The we all being nice to each other answer is something along the lines of "we all value different attributes in jackets and different makers excell in different aspects of jacket making, therefore ranking them is very subjective".

That being said, I own 7 Aeros and 1 Good Wear and anyone who feels they are equally good is welcome to pm me so we can trade my Aeros for your Good Wears.

Aero is sort of mid tier amongst the makers discussed here. Excellent customer service and solid utilitarian products but the details are not quite at the same level with some of the others.

(One doesn’t need to go the 6 years route to get a top notch product either)

No, I was just genuinely curious, because oftentimes, scarcity can make things more desirable. In what way are Good Wear jackets objectively better than Aero?

Pattern, stitchwork, historic accuracy, arguably leather (the everlasting Horween vs Shinki debate) to name a few things.

I couldn’t get rid of the one GW jacket I had fast enough. Granted it was a second hand purchase but it fell well short of my expectations/ hopes.
Disclaimer: I have also sold all my Aeros.
@Boyo while this is a very nice jacket indeed, I personally think your Aero 30’s HB is a better fit and your LW is even better still. Most importantly, you have a nice range of options to choose from.

My GW Hercules is made of Horween Mustang horsehide, which is a wax finish, and it has a ton of natural grain. However, to my eye Boyo's new Shinki Hercules is quite beautiful, and I look forward to seeing it age.

I look forward to seeing it age.

That might take awhile... I’m going to take this one nice and slow

I will say this Boyo, after reading this thread and looking at the pictures of your new Hercules I went back to GW and put down a deposit for this exact jacket!
Congratulations.. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

I’m not too worried about that Ton. And as you might’ve guessed I’ve got plenty of jackets to wear in the meantime...
You certainly do. I’d be curious if any other members have heard about the goodwhereabouts of their jackets? Seems if Boyo’s ship has come in other members who have been waiting 3 or 4 years might only have a couple more to go. ;)
