That is a. beautiful jacket and I like the dress collar far better than the shawl collared Campus jacket.
The Indi Jacket is nice :)

What do you think of Wested's Kingsman Whiskey Jacket? Could it be that it is a bit too short and something for "cowboys" who put their shirts in their jeans? :)
Very true that this jacket would look sloppy with a shirt hanging down below it. That’s why I became one of the “cowboys” and started tucking in my shirts.

To be honest, I have seen people wearing shorter jackets with shirt tails, sweaters, even T-shirts hanging down below them and it looked all right. I think it really depends on the jacket and who’s wearing it. I know that I always feel sloppy with anything hanging down below my jacket.

Don’t worry Gabri. If you are truly one of us you will own both jackets by this time next year, as well as a couple other ones that you haven’t even seen yet...

Does anyone know hidepark.co.uk? Are their leather jackets made in the UK or imported?

No leather jacket worth that price will be UK made IMO.
These are just another mass produced imported cheap crap...

If you are set on buying a cheap mall jacket why don't you just go to your local "leather area"?
In London for example you would find hundreds of jackets like that in Brick Lane, they are all made in Pakistan from pretty bad leather, but at least you can handle what you are buying...

I'm not looking for a bad cheap leather jacket. Could have been UK jackets. Wested is also operating in this price segment ... hence the question

No, this is the "washed lamb". Shrunken lamb tends to be a bit lighter brown from what I've seen and I wanted something more like dark chocolate, which is what I see for the most part in the Raiders film.

On the Wested homepage they write that the Shrunken Lambskin is the closest to the Indy jacket ?

What kind of leather was actually used in the film ?

That's likely true for the feel of the leather, but the color they have available is a lighter color than what I see on screen, so I went with the washed lamb which is definitely a darker shade. That's personal preference though. The actual leather used is not available from Wested anymore and is lost to history.

Bill Kelso likely has the most accurate leather which is called Striated Lambskin. I have one on order.

why don't they have the leather or can get it?
after all, they are the original makers of the jacket or not

From what I know, they didn't really keep tabs on what was used for the films, not really knowing decades later there would be a high demand for screen accurate Indy jackets. Heck, I think even the patterns were thrown away until someone (not from Wested) copied the patterns from a screen worn jacket and thus began the quest to have the ultimate Indy jacket that most of us are still on today.

So they have absolutely no idea what kind of leather they used back then? wow

But how can they "forget" something like that ... They have to be able to remember which animal the leather came from, Colour etc...

Maybe it was Tibetan squirrel leather, wrapped in black coconut oil :D:p

are there any makers who specialize in film jackets?

They knew it was lamb, just the patterns and the 100% exact tannery source was lost in time.

They specialize in film jackets along with Magnoli clothiers.

I have now ordered the Wested Kingsman leather jacket :)
Carefully measured my chest and I'm 44 inches. But I worry a little that maybe it is too big.
Wested adds a little more inches so that it should fit properly. in that case it is about 50 inches according to the size chart.

If your chest is 44" and you wore a 44" jacket it would literally be skin tight and impossible to wear.
The extra room to allow for movement is called "chest ease".
"Standard" chest ease for most makers is around 4 to 6".(Although 4" is pretty tight!)
In this case 6" gives you a 50" circumference jacket, meaning 25" pit to pit measured flat.
Have you tried measuring something you have that fits to see how it compares?
