I'm not supposed to be buying hats, but when a Stetson 4X Open Road shows up on craigslist for $15 I just can't help myself. Paid for, but not sure when I'll be able to pick it up out of the Hot Zone. Comes with a Country Gentleman woolie that probably won't make it past the first Goodwill drop-off.

It is a small 7 1/2.Glad someone here got it. I have been wanting such a Portis for a long time, they were from Illinois. I had a heads up on it (from a fellow lounger) and almost purchased it...but with the Illinois Lock-down business is hurting and I have to be a responsible adult.....damb it.......I fear we may loose many a business before this is all over.......when ever that may be......anyway...good get!!!
PS: When you get it be sure to post it is a small 7 1/2 and then I will feel better!!

Though the ribbon does look a bit rough in the first pic. If it is, I’ve heard just a dab of water can help. I’ll see how it looks tomorrow. I may be asking for people’s advice...

Well I got home to my new to me Christys. First thoughts: much better than expected - the felt is nice and cleaner than it looked in the photos. The inside of the hat is beautiful - like new. The only thing is a bit of a twist in the ribbon.
Then I tried it on. I own another 59cm Christys which is a nice fit, but this seems significantly smaller. Definitely too tight to wear as I usually would, though I have heard that the trilby is often worn further back on the head than a wider brimmed fedora. I may hang on to it & see how it goes. The last photo is further back & reasonably comfortable.

Nice looking new one, sir. I'm not sure I have every seen much discussion on wearing hats front, back, or to the side. The general consensus here on the Lounge is "wear those hats" in whatever way they are comfortable on you and look good on you.
