Judging from his recent pics from his 79th birthday I would say this pic is around 10 yrs old.

He does sets now where he hand carries two microphones & only plays his harp.

I remember the first time I saw Frank Zappa where he sang lead. Just seeing him on stage without the guitar around his neck was a little odd. Same with Bob, seeing him prowling the stage like Rod Stewart or Van Morrison doesn't seem natural.

I'd still buy a ticket and go.

The last time I saw him a few years ago at The Greek Theater, he was playing keys/harmonica and singing.
In the pic above he's playing the Dusenberg. I can remember he played it a lot when he had Clapton on stage with him. I think he also played it a lot when he & Willie Nelson did a tour of mostly outdoor venues like ballparks, etc (2010-2012?).

I went to that tour and still haven't framed that poster, looks like it was 2009. I don't recall if he played guitar that night, but do remember they closed out with All Along the Watchtower.

And that's the Duesenberg guitar in the poster. Mellencamp wasn't with them the two times they came thru here. Pretty cool that you still have the poster!

a friend i used to be in a band w/ was part of willie's crew for many years.
he told me how on those tours bob would sometimes watch chow line w/ binoculars from his bus waiting for line to let up then show in a wig, hat and coat .. kinda' in disguise. my pal also told me if you ran across bob it was preferred you didn't speak to him ...
meanwhile willie-life on tour was the complete opposite w/ willie knowing everyone's name, hanging around often and such. once got to watch an entire willie show from monitor board, drinking bear and .. 15ft from the man .. super fun evening.
as i'm sure you guys know well, those bob shows are hit or miss but man when you catch a good one it's seriously powerful .. The Bard

Yeah, the first time I saw Dylan, he only put on about a one-hour show. We were wondering if he had to get up early for his day job.

Now the next time...the next time was the Rubber Bowl in Akron, with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers as his backing band and the Dead headlining.

Now that was a show.

wow .. woulda' loved to have seen him with the heartbreakers ..

to your point, this one gives me chills ... dylan's totally engaged .. he's even f'n w/ band by the end.
and they're having a ball as well.

They meshed hand-in-glove. The Heartbreakers would back him on a few Dylan tunes, then Bob would take a break and they'd roll out some Tom Petty songs, then Bob would come back out. Rinse and repeat for over two hours. Later, he came out and did "Little Red Rooster" and "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue" with Jerry and The Boys.
