Those are gorgeous! Any more information? One of the most comfortable pairs of shoes ever I owned were made by a Beijing cobbler. Measured my foot in two places, drew around it, I picked the colour by gestures - neither of us speaking the other's language - and they came two weeks later. Fit like a glove, utterly beautiful. Cost me just over GBP100 ten years ago.

Those boots look amazing - would definitely be keen on a pair from them if I ever got the chance to visit them. (Covid permitting, I'll be back in Beijing in Spring 2023 again...).

I don't think they are on sale yet. A test batch was done and my fd received a pair yesterday for test drive and feedback.
As far as I know they are RTW. Marketing materials say tea core flat toe using oiled leather with a waxy finish. Base on vintage 40s shoe last.

RTW would be fab, keep the price down! Long as they grade the sizing well....

Those DO look nice. I'd be interested in hearing the updates as well!
Well, news is the next batch is set to arrive in April next year. Leather lining will be added. Some of my fds are placing orders by the end of this month. Oh, they come in E width only like a lot of the Japanese brands. The price is around USD350.

Thanks, nope sorry, i don't have a link and they don't seem to be on the Chippewa website anymore, i got them of Ebay.

It's the same as this but i paid a 0 less including shipping... dunno who would put so much in a pair of new Chippewa anyway, they have smoked too much pot :D

And now for something different, i just received my Red Wing 8268 from Bulgaria and they were a bargain too, new from deadstock :D

Are those steel toes? Just ordered a pair from Grailed. Trying to figure out the difference between Redwing 9269 and their 8268 engineer boots. Not much info around.

Indeed! Not the most sleek or dressy engineer boot, but they are beautifully made, fit perfectly and are completely bombproof. The sort of boot you would actually ride a motorcycle while wearing.

I have a pair on order with Benzein, which will hopefully be a bit more elegant and dressier.

Those are the “Boss” model? With the round toe?

Basically 8268 is the roughout version of current 2268 and 9269 is the roughout of 9268.
8268 is the more common one with a white grayish colour. 9269 is more brown tan colour. There are also some changes on the position of the strap and the last.

Sorry, fds? Friends? Ship to US?
The last batch was only made as test run and they were all sold to fds and acquaintances. The next batch coming in April are gonna be for sale to the public but probably not on a large scale as they are still testing the market.
I just saw the boots in person tonight. Leather is super soft pull up brown leather with black dye on the surface to create the tea core, too soft to be honest hence lining is gonna be added. I believe they are not gonna need any break in. Along with the flat toe, the boots are likely to get the bent shape of a pair of 40-50s vintage engineer boots in no time. If you are interested, I will keep you posted and see if they can get a pair to you in the US.

I've been wearing harness boots with the harnesses removed (plain black square-toed) since I was 17, exclusively (minus a brief break for a couple years). They're just too versatile- I can wear them with my most dressed up and dressed down outfits alike. Plus, they've sort of become my thing at this point.

I really need to get some new ones, as mine are showing their many miles.
