Shoulder width of a leather-jacket

@Christoball I just watched the movie Cobra (1986). And I remembered the fashion of the 1980s. In those days, everyone had such shapes, not just police coats.

So, you're saying what I need is a big set of shoulder pads?

I remember the eighties too, and you are right I did wear slouchy outerwear back then. Had a technicolor mullet too, and it looked good on me. Not so much today though.

Christoball, the cops, particularly on the last pic, are massive guys, and fill these jackets well. In your case the jacket is too large, and seems to be wearing you. Size down might work.

Oh, and a shout out to Taylor's Leatherware for truly great customer service. They have a terrific return policy, they are helpful and respond quickly to customer queries. They make a good product and they want to make sure the customer is happy with it.

I narrowly missed being able to pick up one of the jackets in their clearance that was made of their old heavier leather. :(

I bought mine during the 30% off clearance sale. I didn't know they were switching to a lighter weight leather. I just sent it back to exchange for a Medium. We'll see how the medium fits. Now I guess we'll also see if the replacement coat is in heavy or lighter leather.

So here is the new medium. Could be my imagination but it seems to be a slightly thinner. Slightly stiffer/dryer leather that takes creases and wrinkles a little more aggressively. Will try hanging it with a coat of Pecards to get the packing wrinkles out. What do you guys think of the fit, compared to the previous jacket?

The buyer returned it, so it just arrived today. The sleeves are too long and the jacket is big in most dimensions (including very wide sleeves), though it doesn't feel as big because it has a full Thinsulate jacket as a lining.

Given the price I paid for this jacket, I think I'm going to use it as a base for experimentation, like water + dryer treatment.

EDIT: Adding a picture of it worn and zipped. Excuse the rumpled sheets.
