what I don’t understand is why they exist at all. I just don’t get it.
well, Kanye West has 18 million followers and Kim Kardashian 349 million followers.
I've never been an idealist, nor a humanist but I honestly don't see any reason to be optimistic about the future, nor do I hold any hope - or respect - for the human species.

Generative AI will do all the thinking for us, and robots will do all the work. Very soon.
Just fill my tank with Bailey’s and Skrewball and I will gleefully go in first.

The thing is the attraction of Field Leathers is the quality of the stitching that Greg can achieve.
It's one of the main points of the Murowski videos...
Greg has reached that level working for Aero for a decade, it's not a skill you gain overnight.
I doubt he can easily find someone who can use a sewing machine to his level and produce jackets to his standard.
The Murowski video makes it sound/look like Greg is making them.

Unless he starts going all Himel, where "I made this jacket" just means "My name is on the label"
I'm guessing the most timeconsuming factor in the new design would be sorting out the design, pattern and sizing along with brokering the deal for the collaboration. I guess this is where you got squeezed @Carlos840 I don't know the complexity and time involved in stitching these jackets to his standards, but from the design it seems much less complex than a lot of his other jackets. This along with clicking from standard patterns would probably reduce the time spent on each order significantly.

You weren't even a member when the FL brand launched...
It happened on TFL, the entire early production was sold to TFL members, early test jackets where flogged by Greg in the classifieds for 200 GBP or less to stay afloat.
He entirely relied on TFL to get started, he offered people who posted reviews better deals (free mockup...), he was definitely trying to use TFL as an influence platform to raise sales.
I would be ready to bet that he knew who Carl Murowski was and that he would post a video on youtube/IG about his jacket when he placed the order, just like he knew @red devil and I would post a review of our Field Jackets on TFL had we ever received them...
No member, but lurker.;)

I came across FL on IG. But before I ordered my jacket in November 2020, I read up on it here in detail.

Yes, he benefited from TFL at the beginning, but so did the members. They got a custom-made leather jacket at a great price. In this respect, I would call it a win/win situation. the latter I’m missing from your statement. But maybe I'm misinterpreting it, because I know you're disappointed in Greg. If I am wrong, I apologise.

He's an electrician, dude. What part of this do you not understand? Carry a lot of cred on social media because of that. A real man, a real job, a real jacket. Rugged!
15.900 followers on instagram. That's why his opinion matters.
Ok. I hate to repeat myself, and I’m beginning to think I shouldn’t have to, but I am also an electrician. I just checked my Instagram and I see that I’m up to 34 followers.
How come nobody is asking me what they should be wearing?

I can ask you if you want, in order to develop your fan base.

My man!
im going to say that you should wear some 20 oz jeans (Selvedge of course), a burly flannel shirt (if it cost less than $300 I don’t want to see it) and some veg tan chukka boots...
Damn, this is harder than I thought! I think I’m gonna stick to being an electrician for a little while.

Well, this escalated quickly..

this thread took a most amusing turn from praised work to general shit-talk, Simmons Bilt buyer advice and the latest about someones 5 year queue at Goodwear :D

I have opened a Field Leathers thread and I ended up browsing Goodwears jackets.. I mean with so many people having quit on him, maybe now is the time?

@Aloysius I'm not angry, I appreciate constructive feedback. Haven't heard any from you yet. But It's fine, I've had my share of people like you. Like I said, reflective of the real world. Prevents this from becoming a pleasant echo chamber.

It‘s your call whether you listen to more experienced players in the field or disregard their opinions as personal attacks, I guess. Anyway, if you want a cross zip, buy a Schott 618, it is a three times better jacket than any cross zip SB will bake you.

I sent Greg a message on instagram asking if I should expect a delay on my jacket, due to the collab with Carl Murawski. He replied that there is gonna be no delay and that they are still continuing to get the correct amount of leather jackets out to customers to keep in line with the lead time. He also said that all the sheepskin jackets a slotted in and made in his overtime hours. I guess we neeed to give the guy a break and some trust. Just hope he doesn’t drive himself too hard.

Ah yes, chapter 3, section 2, paragraph 1, subset b of the GW playbook. Assure those in the Q all is well. Always. No hesitation. All is well my friends, all is well.

Lol. Ok, I’m done. Sorry.

@jacketjunkie Yes, I guess I misinterpreted honest constructive criticism as simply bashing on my chosen maker and model. My bad, no doubt you veterans are in the right. I'll try to keep this thread (and other threads) clean of my foolishness.
In terms of your suggested regarding Schott 618 - thanks but no thanks.

I hope that’s true and like I said, Greg seems to be a great guy and he’s obviously a super talent. He deserves the financial reward for having the balls to do what he did (leaving Aero and launching his own brand) and doing it as well as he has.

There’s always been something so irritating to me about the “influencer” culture. IMO it’s the height of cringe but I suppose as Jeo mentioned in another thread, everybody has to put food on the table.

It’s also true that we can’t keep these guys to ourselves forever, try as we might.

I'm still on the queue for my jacket which I put down the deposit in December 2021 for a custom design built off the Manhattan in pony brown. Sam contacted me towards the end of 2022, however with the news that pony brown was not an option anymore. That was a bummer and I've been debating on canceling and doing something with Thedi instead, but decided to stick with it and choose the brown Italian cowhide instead.

There's been no news back for about a month now about what to do next to finalize the order details, I assume due to all their time spent on the new B3 jackets. I really hope it works out for Greg and Sam. They are really nice people and deserve success, but as time drags on I just more and more want to reach out to Theodoros...
