So, what do you think of your BRG gloves?

They're lovely, for quality and construction. They're comfortable from trying on, but I've yet to use them on the bike as I tend to default to some old RST gloves that I've had for years and years.

The velcro wrist adjustment is a little weird on the Goldtop though, as if you tighten the cuff it pushes the spare leather into your wrist.

Probably be absolutely fine when worn in anger though.

Goldtop have the 3rd birthday of their bricks and mortar store on 21st July.

I might ride over on my little Trumpet.

Ha. I've just realised I most likely won't be going along to this as I'm at the Malle Mike festival next weekend so won't get the opportunity.

Still, the Malle should be great fun and I'm looking forward to it. I've never been before.

Hi all, I’m considering the goldtop 1959 for casual wear. Has anyone owned or handled this jacket? Does the quilted liner allow for layering? I live in the Netherlands and the temperature range is usually 0 to 30 Celsius, but the humidity is through the roof so I’m a little worried it might be too warm for casual wear in the spring/summer. Any tips would be much appreciated!

Reviving a thread which seems slightly dated and pretty inactive (at least in recent months). Just wanted views of owners of moderen/recent Goldtops as to quality of leather, thickness, how they compare to the usual suspects (Vanson, Schott) in terms of materials and craftsmanship, overall value, duarability etc.

Any views and feedback would be nice to hear!

Just when you think "there really can't be a market for all the brands in this leather jacket niche", you discover a new one... http://www.goldtop.co.uk/

These guys look to be revivalists in the same, very British, rocker vein as Lewis or Mascot. Priced at the same 'bduget' level as Mascot, around GBP300 for a jacket. The 1959 model looks interesting (****** poket appears to be on the right, which is unusual); 617, despite the Schottesque name, is in Lewis-style territory. Some interesting bits and pieces on there. Clearly been on the go for a while, but this is the first I've heard of them - they just popped up on my facebook in an ad today. Anyone have any experience with these?
They've been arounda while, I've owned a few examples and currently own a '68 Cafe Racer

The best thing for me is the brick and mortar showroom where you can touch, feel, smell and try on (it helps that is less than 1 hour ride from mine!)

I would say this, these jackets are primarily made to be worn on a motorcycle
and or that purpose they are brilliant

Excellent quality, finish and added bonus of armour (included is only shoulder and elbow, back protector you have to buy separately)
For just over £400 you can't beat the value
Rarely you'll find a proper motorcycle jacket with this quality and spec at this price point

Customer service is also brilliant
Fast shipping good follow up, exchanges and returns etc all very good

But:
I would NOT wear mine off the bike
Even without the armour, it's too bulky for my liking, the lining is substantial and padded, very luxurious and plush, very warm for biking purpose

Full swing back, again perfect for stretching my arms over the bars (I run 16" Apes), but in my apinion unsuitable for casual wear, I have seen people wearing them out but not for me

but again, on the bike, brilliant
I took mine all the way to Southern Spain last September and rode 4000+km in comfort

For me, they just need to be used to do what they're made for

Here's an idle thought.

Would anybody be interested in a little FL Goldtop shop mini meet? Try on some jackets, have a coffee and a piece of cake?

Maybe one afternoon in the Spring, then anybody in riding distance could ride there, and we could look at some bikes too? (And also because pretty much every weekend now until the end of the year I've got commitments)

Anyway. Thinking out loud really.

Sounds like a great idea, count me in
In fact, I keep meaning to pop in there to get a submariner sweater, I'm in two minds whether to go for the classic or fitted version, only one way to find out!....
May pick up a pair of gloves too
