Yellowstone Prints, really enjoy wearing this dotted and knot planned tie.

Along with this recently acquired Swiss Olympic vintage art deco watch. Snazzy and keeping perfect time. I can’t find much info on this brand but the watch itself and original double clasp band are in excellent shape.

These ties came along with a lot of 20 hats I bought at an online auction. Most of the neckties were tied in bundles using another tie so they are wrinkled (as well as showing various levels of dirt or damage). I pulled out these older ones to keep (there are 27 others that Il’ll probably donate).

Fantastic, Bob: the ties, bow ties, knitted ties, than hats and scarfs and ... That ist really a great find. Love everything, but my favourites are the knit ties - the red with the spots and the grey with red stripes!

First (and probably only) tie purchase for 2025. Spent entirely more than I'm usually willing to pay, but this one's kind of a holy grail for me. I've missed out on a couple in the past so I went all in for this one.

After all.....it's better to regret something you have done than to regret something you haven't done. Right?

Brocade (woven silk or rayon) ties were very popular in the 1930s. Here are some of my favorites:

For some reason, it's very difficult to find black '30s ties with a pattern. The one below looks very Deco to me.

If you look closely at the teardrop paisleys in the tie below, you'll see stylized sea creatures with eyes, fins and tails.

Below is a tie whose pattern deliberately mimics stained glass cathedral "rose" windows.

Radio waves in a '30s tie? You bet.

The following two ties are not brocades. The first tie is hand-painted with bamboo stalks and leaves; if you look closely, you can see the artist's signature. The second tie is printed with stylized birds. Both ties were made in Japan (for the export market) before World War II. They're made of very thin silk crepe.

Haven’t bought a tie in a while, but this one was in the “Vintage Boutique” section of the Red Racks (DAV) thrift store for $4.99 — and their non-vintage ties are usually $9.99 nowadays.

Sears Sadly, $5 is the new 50 cents it seems.

Sadly, these days $5 seems to be the new $1, but its still a pretty great find. Good vintage ties in the thrift store seem to be a disappearing thing these days, too.
