Having owned this hat for two to three weeks before moving it on, I can attest to what a bad a$$ hat it is. Before the X’s and varying qualities, this is what you got. The Boss. Maybe the finest felt I’ve laid a hand to and with the wide ribbon, just a stand alone hat. Pretty much pristine too. The only hat I’ve started to hang onto that didn’t come anywhere close to fitting me. Thanks for posting it.

Yes, a very nice hat, indeed.

J. Hückel'a Synove Vídeň (J. Hückel´s Söhne Wien), 3/4 Point, Crown 4 1/2 inches, Brim 2 1/4 inches, 154 grams. Probably early 1900s and might be occupational. Has a lower profile and striking liner / sweatband.

This hat belonged to an employee of a family owned cattle sale barn. It remained there for ~30 yrs after the employee failed to take it with him when he resigned.

I've posted before about the Palace Clothing Co in the Vintage Hat Stores thread. The Auerbach family were early Kansas settlers involved in statehood & early Kansas politics.

An Ecuadorian toquilla straw Panama by Pedigree Hats. Shark’s Men’s Store opened in Bismarck, ND in 1937 & closed in 1973 so it is at least 50 yrs old. It has taken on a beautiful color.
