I guess the new rule worked for a while - a week or so. Again daily I come across new adds from new members who don't give a damn about the rules of this forum - I mean this thread is pinned as first at the Classifieds section. It is really tiring.

yeah. They don’t read it, and I guess it’s time consuming to enforce. There are also some who have been selling since before the new rule who have loads of posts but almost none outside of the classifieds.

I had logged off for a week but I see that it's still the same. I know that the moderators do their best - from their free time - to remove these adds but I don't think this is sustainable. I - and others here - tried to refer these new members to the rules of the forum in a really polite way but at best we were ignored.
It is either making it impossible to post to the classifieds if your postcount is less than 20 (I have zero knowledge about software programming, is this possible?) or just split the forum into two: the classic Lounge and a Lounge marketplace.

Obviously it will still be dependent on the moderators having to take action but should any offending sales posts not just be reported using the appropriate button ? They can then decide whether to just delete the post and/or advise the member of the 20 post rule.

Having a great many Filson garments, and several hats, I've always wanted this particular model. I'd go for the full-on red and black plaid: If I'm going to look like Elmer Fudd, might as well go all the way. My wife has always had a contrary opinion concerning me purchasing this hat......

Exactly so. Those of us with a moderator account have a ticker that's always in the top corner of our screen, alerting us to any new reports. If anyone spots an infraction of this rule, the fastest way of dealing with it is not to post on that thread, but to hit the report button. All infractions will be removed as soon as a mod spots the report.

Does it help if we post in the thread saying something like:

"Thread Reported"

That way the mods are not notified multiple times

With an uptick in new members who are here either to just sell things or to relieve other members of their cash without supplying the goods, we will remove any classified post by anyone who hasn't taken the time to get to know the forum and all it offers. You'll need 20 posts at a minimum to participate in the classified forum as a seller from here on out.
Sounds good :)

Thankfully someone has only tried to **** me once on this forum, but given the stupid amount of times it happens on other forums I can see why this is an issue.

I hate to be the "law-and-order" guy, but I wonder if it´s time for a stricter bumping-policy.

Bumping the same offering every other day (wihtout any changes to price/conditions) relegates new postings to page 5 or so in 24 hours.
I have stopped making new postings as it seems pointless at the moment.

I know some forums I'm on enforce a 7 day bumping policy, maybe that's also an option?

Also spams and adds noise to its own thread. Easier to miss a price update in between 3 pages filled with the seller simply stating the jacket is still available.

Hi all, I have a question I am hoping someone can help clarify for me - what exactly does 20 posts mean in regards to the rule for classified? Does it mean I have to make 20 different brand new posts before I can sell something, or is it that I have to have 20 comments on non-classified posts?

Thank you all!

I may have the nicest vintage Stetson hat collection West of the Mississippi. And I have too many. But after reading this thread I probably don't qualify to sell, I'm scared of the potential buyers, I cancelled my PayPal last year, and I don't do Venmo. So I guess it is ebay for me.

I am saying this with the greatest respect (Also as a reply to @Ohmufasaa), but this seems to be the general misconception:

TFL is NOT a sales platform! It’s a forum to share knowledge about clothing and indulge in the love for it. Selling (exchanging really) comes with the territory as it enables contributing members to expand on the hobby by getting to handle more items than would otherwise be accessible.
As a contributing member, 20 posts as an entry to the Classifieds is a non-issue. If you make an issue about it,, you’re obviously only here to sell, not to engage. That’s the domain on the Bay and other commercial platforms, really. With all the accompanying features like ****ming, aggressive marketing etc.

Again: not meant as a lecture, but I’ve been increasingly irritated by people asking about “the exact definition of 20 posts” when this is exactly the issue here

Well said… kinda reminds me of a time many years ago when I made my first purchase on eBay. It was a vintage sears leather jacket but I was more excited about the history of the jacket. The seller didn’t know anything about the jacket and didn’t even want to really communicate much with me about the jacket. Of course loving the history of these jackets I spent many hours on the internet trying to find out all I could about this particular jacket. Until I found this forum, I thought I was the only person in the world that loved vintage clothes, jackets etc… even my friends made me feel like a weirdo. Why would you want a used jacket or a used shirt they would say lol. Anyways I love this forum because I can talk western boots or jackets with like minded people. Friends that I see on a regular basis don’t get me and my love for this hobby. I appreciate this forum, thank you!
