Another recent pickup: this one is a Lee 101J made of some rather thick and characterful lambskin… feels more like sheep. Tagged large, but the shoulders and arms fit like a 40, and the chest and waist fit like a 38.

It really is a stunner. I’m still newly discovering these styles - do you know who made it for Lee and what era?

God almighty, it's beautiful... And this one even has the back yoke... ;_; This is Horween, though. I'm 100% certain.

What makes this so beautiful?

Is it aniline or semi aniline and then waxed on top so the shine and colour has depth? Has it been conditioned regularly?

Unfortunately I haven't been able to find any information about it whatsoever. If I had to guess I'd say it's probably from the early 2000s but could be a decade older or newer.

Finally found one of the fabled Gap truckers with good quality leather. They don't pop up super often here in Europe. This one arrived smelling like the inside of a wet ashtray, but a couple rounds in the washer plus a treatment of Effax leder-balsam have it all sorted and smelling like beeswax.

Sleeves are a little shorter than I'd prefer, but still wearable. And the leather has incredible character. The tag suggests it's from 1999 and seems to have been worn a bunch. Pretty decent score for €50!

Thanks! The first Gap trucker I found was a miss. Thin mall leather–pretty sure the top coat makes up half the thickness of the hide. Creases won't set in the sleeves and no grain to speak of. The top of the button placket won't even splay out like a trucker should:

Just picked up this vintage Lee 101J in suede. I don't often see these come up. Still trying to figure it out- no side pockets and numerical sizing seems to place it in the 70’s. Labeling seems to indicate USA made. Nice surprise- the sleeves on this Lee are actually decently long compared to those shorter sleeves on vintage Levi suede type 3 jackets from this era.

My replacement one of these arrived just today. 3 years after I stupidly sold my last one, I finally stumbled over another in my size (not a rare size either, Medium, but it shows how much I don't pay attention).

It's one of the good ones, like yours @Tomwiththeweather , with the heavy, characterful hide and the ever-so-slightly-too-short sleeves.

It just arrived this afternoon, so I need to run it through the wash and get some Renapur into it, and then I'll do some pics.

I'm genuinely delighted to find it and I think the sleeves on this one might be slightly longer than the one I had before. I always wondered to myself if they'd been tailored shorter on that one, but this seems better.

It seems barely worn, and like yours an excellent bargain at £29.

It's drying at the moment after I put it through the wash. I need to treat it now too of course, but I'll see if I can do some fit pics in the meantime.

Here's a couple of quick ones.

The jacket has dried out now from the wash but is currently very stiff and needs some re-conditioning to put some oils back into the surface, so it looks matt and pale.

But you can see pretty much how it fits.
