Western style hats in Bardstown & Louisville

Hi there,

I will spend three days in Bardstown and four days in Louisville in December. Most of the time I will be visiting distilleries, but I have also planned a day or two for shopping.

I am looking for shops with genuine Western hats. Any recommendations within the area is welcome! Obviously I am happy also with vintage, doesn't have to be brand new.

Also what are the brands I should be looking for? Aside from Stetson and American Hat Company?

I travelled that area in 2023. Not great hat country at all. Nashville is better but even then not great hat hunting country.

PS: Louisville is home of the Kentucky Derby. There are retail shops that specialize in hats worn once a yr to the Derby.

There is a little hat history in Louisville. Hats were once manufactured there by the Swann-Abram’s Hat Company. The building still exists as the Grady Hotel along with the Wild Swann restaurant.

Preslers and Wildhats are probably the two I'd look at. Though I'm not sure you'll find anything terribly interesting. You may have better luck at the vintage/thrift stores along Bardstown road or the Fleur De Flea market.

Louisville, while becoming more 'hip' has never been a stylish city. Beyond the vintage shops, mall style still dominates there.

Definitely walk through NuLu and bardstown road, Museum row is also decently fun. Taking a walk over the Big4 bridge to Jeffersonville might also be worth your while.
